Parking Brake

I failed inspection because my parking brake didn't hold. I priced it at the dealership when my truck was in the bodyshop. They wanted $438!!! I bought a new disc, $107, and 2 new pads, $40, and brake cleaner from orielies. The dealership said that if you dont use the parking brake it wares out. And they did. The left side ate up the disc!!

 

ANywho, USE YOUR PARKING BRAKES!!!

yeah i think you are supposed to replace the shoes and a clip when the shoes destroys the rotor. It may happen again if you dont replace the clip

I replaced the clips. One of them the bolt head broke off, so I spot welded it on..... Dealer said that the pads set them selfs every time you you them. I never used them.

I use it out of habit, from driving a stick for so many years. But good to know.

yeah I am with you....I used to drive nothing but sticks....I always use my d**n parking brake...force of habbit and a little extra protection.

I had the clips replaced under warranty. There is a TSB or sumthin out there that applies to the parking brakes.
