Got some info on swapping to digital ac control

Hey guys,

Well, I finally got my good friend down to the house to let me try some parts from his truck on mine. He drives a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 HD CC with a duramax diesel. His truck has the digital climate control that I have wanted to put in mine. I took both of ours out at the same time and tried to put his in my truck. Well, the main harness snapped right in, but the secondary harness which controls the speed of the air blowing out or fans does not. Mine is for a manual button while his electrical.

Now comes the tricky part that I need you eletrical guru's help. Could I not buy the unit from GM and cut off my plug and put female connectors and get the pinouts about right. I tested everything on his unit in my truck with the main harness connected. Everything worked!! I had a/c, dual climate control, rear defroster, front defroster and recirculation button also. Everything that I could tell worked except for the fan control. So, do you all think this is possible. It looked SO much better!!!! Need some input!!

Thanks in advance,

Chad Hammon(Flodine)

anything is possible, you just need to get the wiring diagrams and re-wire that plug or maybe theres a plug missing.

Worst case is that the computer has to have some programming before it works.

If he got the unit to power up then does he need to have the BCM flashed? This would be awesome if I could switch to the digital!

I would say he has a pretty sweet ride now with lots of mods. Would cost alot less to do what he is looking to do to it than to trade in on another. I can't speak for Flodine, but I could not afford the fancier truck, therefore I bought the WT and will add to when and if I get the money to.

Like Dave said.

I would have ordered the Digital AC from the factory if it was an option on the regular cab. And I imagine getting the unit from ebay and spending a little time wiring it up would be alot cheaper than adding the option.

I have always been dissapointed that GM does not offer half the goodies for the regular cab like they do on the extended cab.

I have a gntx-177 rear view mirror which has temp and compass. The wiring harness was available to connect the mirror and the compass works. Now I could surely use some help on locating the temp sensor wiring and where to connect it to the main harness. My wiring diagrams do not cover wiring for this mirror. I assume I connect the harness from the sensor to some common point but I haven't an idea where. The vehicle is a 2000 Silverado. I have part numbers for the sesonr and the 12 in. lead from the sesor but that does me no good if I do not know where to connect. Any help from the experts would be greatly appreciated.

There may be a sensor missing.

Usually for automatic climate control there will be sensors for the internal temperature that interface with the digital A/C controls. Without this, there is no reference for the control to know when to switch on the fan.

You will have sensors missing.

The blower harness isn't the only difference. You also need a blower fan controller which attaches to the bottom of the blower motor.

I have the digital and it sucks. I would rather have the anolog. It seems like you have to take your eyes off the road to get the adjustments where you want them plus they are slow to react to the touch of the buttons
