Hey y'all, I just recently bought a 2025 6.2 RST with the active exhaust. It's pretty good for stock, but I want something like my 2018 had (Carven R). I wanna keep the valve for the option to be quieter but I also want to cut off the factory muffler and make her a bit more aggressive, I'm not sure if I should go with the R Series again or if the TR would be enough? What do y'all think?

Its a single in offset with dual outlet that y's back to single again, then that y's back again to the dual tips, the factory setup with the dual mode exhaust.

The problem I see with even switching out for a new single in/dual out is all modes will be louder.  The stock muffler is set up like the Corvette and Camaro stuff where inside the muffler body you've got one outlet handling the "loud" and the other handling the "quiet" with its tube set up to muffle sound.  99% of the aftermarket mufflers out there won't have this design.

I'd look into GM's option on this perhaps?  GM sells a recalibration to make the stock stuff louder.  35% louder on startup in sport mode and 10% louder cruising:

Chevrolet ZR2/AT4X Spec Active Exhaust Calibration | 85822149 | Chevrolet Accessories

The only company I see that makes a full cat back that retains the stock valve function is Flowmaster.  They just launched 3 kits for it.  Theirs will flow the muffler in normal drive mode and in sport bypasses some flow to an under cab dump pipe.  Flowmaster Launches Active Valve Exhaust Kits for 6.2L Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra - Holley Motor Life

Everyone else's setups require a valve bypass simulator to be installed.

IMO, The $395 calibration sounds like a bargain here.  More sound, retains the valve function, plus like their other NPP stuff, they did a great job on the sound IMO.

EDIT:  At the end of the day OP, its your truck and your choice on what to do.

Interesting, yeah I see what you mean. I might have to look into the calibration or figure something out that would work, thanks!

I did the Active Exhaust Calibration and I really like it. Like newdude stated 35% louder on startup in sport mode and 10% louder while cruising. I still have control over the active exhaust valve to quiet the system down but I don't use it.

How did the process work? I'm guessing I'd go to the dealer and ask the service department about it? If it would actually turn out to be that $395(ish) I would definitely consider it, otherwise if they decided to throw in outrageous labor cost to sit there and upload it I'd probably say no thanks

I tried to purchase the calibration online from GM parts but it kept coming up "back ordered". I don't know how a download can be "back ordered". Any way I went to my dealer and they didn't know anything about this calibration so I gave them the part# and they had to order it. The package came in after a long wait. The download includes a labor code for the dealer to get paid for the download so labor is included.

Maybe it comes up "backordered" because only dealerships are authorized to do the download process, that would be my guess at least. I'll have to look into it more and decide if I wanna do that or not, as long as it's louder I'd be happy 😂

can anyone see why this wouldnt work on a 24?? Gibson makes a pretty nice weld in kit that utlizes the factory valve but for $1700 its damn steep.
