For those who have the GM trailer TPMS installed in a trailer and the tires/wheels are more than 25' away from the license plate (where the sensor receiver is at), here is a simple modification to make your sensors rear correctly and not give you the "Check Trailer TPMS" warning. This should work on any 2020+ truck.

My trailer has a 40' deck, not counting the gooseneck. The truck would hit or miss connecting to the TPMS in the trailer tires.

Here is the parts list:

OEM style connectors

3 Pin connector

18 AWG wiring (3 conductor)

Remove the license plate and pop the sensor off the bracket and unplug it. I fished about 5' of the wire down through the rubber plug down to the location where the receiver is mounted. Build a female end pin out with the OEM style connectors and plug it into the factory wiring harness. On the end that runs down from the rubber plug in the bed, put one of the 3 pin plugs on the end of the wire. I used these connectors here since they are easier to disconnect by hand.

Now run your wire on your trailer. I started at the 7-pin plug and ran it back to where I was mounting the GM receiver. I followed the GM rear trailer camera wiring. Now build a male OE style plug on the end of the wire. Mount the receiver and plug it in.

**Make sure when you plug in your trailer to the truck, the receiver gets plugged FIRST then the 7-pin plug. When unplugging, the 7-pin FIRST and the receiver last. Plugging in the 7-pin triggers the truck to activate the receiver.

Finally, plug everything in and test the system. I went through the steps to relearn the trailer TPMS. I knew instantly that it worked because of how fast the truck picked them up.

So you moved the trailer TPMS module to the trailer, correct?

That is correct. The truck only activates the module when it detects something plugged into the 7-pin plug. That is why the module has to be plugged in before the 7-pin.
