I have not been able to get my Silverado to heat up past 111 degrees driving 25mph after 2 auto start cycles in 10 degrees F. My truck has the active grille shutters and i am wondering if it is a stuck thermostat but had a buddy say his does the same thing. wondering if anyone has the same issue or any ideas of what could be going on? truck has no check engine light or codes on it related to this issue any help would be appreciated

111⁰ sounds awfully low to me. Are you getting any heat in the cab? How are you checking the temperature? I had the thermostat go bad on my 2016 about 2 years ago. Mine in winter was running in the upper 160⁰ mark to upper 170⁰ mark but would occasionally get to the 180⁰ mark if I jumped on the throttle a bit. I monitored the coolant temps not with the generic dash gauge but with an OBDII reader. The heat in the cab wasn't very good. The stock 207⁰ thermostat was sticking open. I ended up installing a Motorad 194⁰ thermostat. Within a month or so, that began sticking partially closed and I was sometimes getting temps of 225⁰ also during the winter. I changed that out for a GM 194⁰ thermostat I was able to find and everything began working as it should again.

I have been monitoring this with a scan tool. it would read on the dash barely above the 160 mark some days and when i get on the gas it would read around the 170 mark but as soon as the afm kicks it into v4 it cools down to about 111 to 120 degrees on the scan tool. i have an extended warranty on the pickup just wanted a little more insight from someone else before i brought it in

On another note it feels like the truck hunts for V4 mode a lot more in the winter time than in the summer and im not sure why that is but i seem to notice it more, maybe because the truck doesn't really heat up.

On that I can't honestly answer because I've been running a Range AFM disabler for several years as a preventive measure to hopefully not end up suffering the dreaded lifter failure.

I put a winter front on my 2017 with the 4.3 V6.  I to thought the grill shutters weren't working

but now I think they are.  Just too cold out and maybe a weak thermostat.

Runs hot now in the winter and lots of heat here is Canada.
