First of all, the post was about swapping traditional GM, American, Chevrolet Suburbans for German utes, for government use. But whatever, thread drift, I understand. And in case some are confused, this concerns Kesh Patel, the FBI director who uses government funds to fly his girlfriend on dates.

 

Prime Rib is over $20/lb. Yes, I do set foot in a store. Ground beef is $9/lb. Chicken breast is almost $12/lb. No, prices are not down, and the latest inflation report confirms that consumer prices are growing at least at a rate of 2.7%. That number is heavily flawed based on the government shutdown, and other questionable statistical practices to publish such a report.

 

Some will continue to be confused...the prices I quoted are before any taxes.

Enjoy government officials driving around in X5's, because they simply didn't want their new Suburbans anymore. Your tax dollars at work!

The only thing we have seen increase in cost at a grocery store has been an oak wine we purchase.  It was $5.99 for the longest time and started selling out all the time never on the shelf, now it’s $9.97 and not selling.

1. Why did the current admin sink $1 Billion of public funds to subsidizing egg prices this year?

2. Why is the current investigating meat packing plants for the precipitious rise in the cost of beef and other meats?

A Chevy Traverse is cheaper than a Suburban. Those are made in Lansing, MI by a US company.

A Ford Explorer is cheaper than a Suburban. Made in Chicago, IL by a US company.

 

Chevy Suburbans are made in Texas. Domestic manufacturing, domestic company.

 

X5's sold in the US come out of Spartanburg, SC. At least they're domestically manufactured. But profits go home to BMW AG. And we're running around in arguably German vehicles - not a good look for the US government.

 

These are armored X5's, and the conversion company / parts are said to come from Mexico. I wonder if Kash paid tariffs on the parts/conversion for his X5's? LOL-sad

 

And that's what gets me. Some people have to make this all about trump. I don't care who is in office, I'm America-first on these kinds of issues and it's sad that we're straying from our own US companies when purchasing things as simple as transportation.

The money thing.  Its a "bit" more complex than it just goes to BMW AG.

But it's a big one, with 8,000 employees and the capacity to build almost 350,000 vehicles a year, many of which are shipped from the U.S. to other countries. It has invested about $6 billion in that facility, and in 2013 announced a $1 billion, two-year expansion program to boost capacity by 50 percent and employment by 10 percent."

 

 

 

Its an older article, but buying that X5 supports a lot of US employees and supports more investment to the US from BMW.  I'd imagine some of those funds also make their way to BMW North America as well.  Unfortunately we'll never know for sure 100% where the profits all go, but its potentially not too bad.
