Currently driving a 2022 1500 LTD 2.7T which is my 2nd Silverado. Yes, 99.9% on-road, groceries are heaviest thing on the bed, but I love a truck and especially 2.7T engine. No longer need a roomy space and looking for a smaller one to park easier. I am considering a Colorado Trailboss for price and look (I don’t need much bells and whistles). Anyone has experiences or advices? Is there a significant difference in riding quality? Thanks for dumb questions

I owned a Silverado Trailboss 2.7T. Loved it. Many fellow neighbors and friends have GMC and Chevy 2.7 T versions of Colorado and Canyon and love them. I think the lower HP 2.7T in either one would be ideal for efficiency durability and life.

The new Colorado is very nice.  Same for the Canyon.  They drive tighter than the Silverado I feel, but in a good way (handling wise).  Ride very nice too.  Seats are much better than the 15-22 Colorado for sure.  Also, as quick as the Turbomax is in the full size, its quicker in the Colorado/Canyon.  

 

If you are shopping used, careful around 2023 and 2024 as they have some teething problems.  We had 4 of them at once (3 2023s, 1 2024) that had wiring issues around where the engine harness passes the turbocharger.  2 of the 4 had a field engineer out to fix, all 4 got fixed however, then 2 were immediately traded in.  One got traded on a 2025 and the owner has had no issues so far.  

 

The 2023 Trail Boss got the "Turbo Plus" variant standard (310hp 390tq), with the "HO" tune (aka Turbomax) as an upgrade during ordering, or via the accessories catalog at the dealer (310hp 430tq).  2024 and up, all Trail Boss have the Turbomax.  Honestly, having driven both, they felt fairly identical.  And they are the same exact engine, just state of tune change.  Turbo Plus hits peak torque at 2000rpm and just about stays there until about 4000rpm.  Turbomax peaks at 3000rpm but is making 350+tq all the way from 1500-4000rpm.

Can't beat the Colorado for good looks and good value. It's a nice truck. I agree with all the above - it has a more sporty feel than the Silverado. 23's and early 24's had "first year" issues along with different engine power choices. I'd probably look at '25 and up.

 

I really like the Colorady Trail Boss, but in '24 they weren't offering it with optional LED headlights or heated seats. Those are two things I really enjoy about modern cars. A Z71 doesn't have the same look, IMO, missing the factory "lift" that the TB does.

 

I've heard nothing but good things about the Turbomax. That said, turbo 4-cylinders are pretty far down there on my personal list in terms of auditory enjoyment. But it's got great power and as turbo 4's go, GM appears to have built them to last.
