Truck owners are notorious for finding clever ways to upgrade their rigs with parts from other vehicles. If a part bolts up, looks better, and doesn't break the bank, the community will find it. Right now, a remarkably simple interior upgrade is driving Silverado and Sierra owners crazy across Facebook groups and forums, and it comes straight out of the C8 Corvette.

Owners of 2019-2026 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019-2022 GMC Sierra trucks have discovered that the premium, metallic push-to-start button from the new Corvette is a direct, plug-and-play fit for their dashboards. It requires no programming, takes about three minutes to install, and costs under $43.

While some owners recommend using a plastic non-marring trim tool to gently pry the old button out from the front of the dash, the community has found an even safer, tool-free method to pop it out from behind:

  1. (Optional but recommended) Disconnect your truck's battery to avoid accidentally starting the truck or throwing a random code during the swap.
  2. Reach your hand up under the dashboard, directly behind where the start button sits.
  3. Locate the back of the button housing, squeeze the two retention tabs on the sides of the button, and push outward. The button will pop right out the front of the dash.
  4. Slide the red locking pin UP on the wiring connector to release it, then pull the connector out of the old button.
  5. Plug the wiring harness into your new Corvette button and lock the red pin.
  6. Push the new button firmly back into the dash from the front until it clicks securely into place.

You may need to clarify your article on this. You stated that these won't fit a Sierra because the start button is squarish in shape. Are you referring to the Sierra Denali (I think the AT4 as well) dash because my 24 Sierra SLT looks just like the picture of the button above. I'm guessing that is a Silverado in that pic. The following is from your article.

It DOES NOT fit: The refreshed 2022.5 through 2026 GMC Sierra. GM updated the Sierra’s interior with a distinct, larger, square-shaped push-to-start button that is completely different from the Silverado and Corvette design.

Not sure what you are talking about but my 26 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT looks just like that one and others on FB are swapping them as well.
