stupid GM is gotta do it weak again. this is so freaking getting old. you know they are going to charge about 500 buck for it, when you can buy a regular one, slap on an intake and westers for the same $$$ and get MORE power. I'm sick of their stupid games and starting to play number two. Ford and Dodge have shot warning shots, and they didn't listen. Now they are shooting right at them and GM dosen't have a clue what's going on. these guys can made a 405HP engine that gets 28 MPG. theyt need to stop slacking off and get something else done in the GM Powertrain lineup. Ford has a high-tech 3 valve 300HP engine, and you know more is coming. They introduce engine, then a few years later bump the power, much like GM does. Dodge has the 345 HP hemi-roid, and supposedly some of its design is copied of the LS1. don't tell me Dodge is better at making a truck LS1 than GM. Nissan has a 305 V-8 that will whallop everything else because its so refined and smooth, and has the drivetrain to make evey HP count. When that new Honda comes out, I hate Honda, but they have a way of getting everything right the first time, and making some freaking good products, no matter what field they venture into. S2000, Oddessy, NSX, to name a few.

a 310 HP 5.3 may bring it on par with the competition, but it won't be winning any new fans who don't like the 295 HP 5.3. isn't that the goal here?

GM is an American company! American companys are know for going overboard! Remember the ZL1 COPO Camaros? The 455ci 442's? the LS6 Chevelle? True, not many were sold, BUT THEY WERE OFFERED!

GM? HELLOOOOOOOO? :wtf: anyone there?

anyone with me on this one

Hate to jump on this bandwagon myself. My brother traded his 1500hd crew with the 6.0 for his new hemi 345 horse. I couldn't believe it when he did...then I drove it, Dodge is kicking a$$ Ford's 6.0 is bumping past the 620 ft pnd range in diesel world and where is the bo tie group? Not 1st, not 2nd, not even third.... Good lord wtf is going on?:wtf:

On a side note at least the cheaper fords and dodges are still cheaper than the silverado's that means those of us who like performance get to pay less for the top dog :D:P Just wish it was the same chevy truck I have trusted the last decade.

That Hemi is pretty impressive. I haven't driven one, but my dad just got a 2500 4x4 with one. He got it Tues. and found ways to put enough miles on to take a trip with it on Sat. He got almost 14 MPG with only 300 miles on the odometer. The thing isn't even broken in yet!

I hope GM has more in store than a little hop to 310 HP....

I think they;re in contact with TByrne and hopinh that we'll support him by purchasing whipples rather than GM having to spend their "hard earned slapperado" money on us

If dodge is really trying to copy an LS1, they are doing a better job than GM.

If they really want to bring the "Hemi" back they need a big block for christs sake

but GM really is falling behind, they're going cheap. And the dodge's are said to only has around 260-270 rwhp, but they're also notorious for extremely bad drivetrains, so they lose a lot of pwr that way too. GM just needs to have their slapperados slap themselves in the face instead of their customers

They are 6.1 big block rumered to be around 400 hp with 450 pnd ft this fall. Heavy duty only...but still, that's just a touch more than everyone else.

BTW the Hemi is throttled back for the first 150 hours, that's where they are getting the 260 rwhp numbers from. At 150 hours the pre-program goes away and unleashes all 345 hp....

That's only 55 more hp than the current GM product... WAY TO GO GM, stay ahead!!! Not even ahead of Nissan anymore. Revolution, yea that's it...See where 4th place can get us more like it....:wtf:

interesting, I haven't heard that one before. with that info, if I wanted a RCSB Muscle Truck, I'd probably go dodge right now, and used the money I saved over a Silvy 5.3 for a new Torque convertor.

Did I just say that?:thumbs::D

That info is correct. My dad is on all the Dodge boards, or a lot of them anyway and has heard the same thing. I've ridden in the truck once, and that thing HAULED, even with only 5 hours on it, but he got the 4.10's for towing. Will be interesting to see how the MPG improves over the next few months and then how the "unlock" affects the MPG.

This doesnt make sense, please explain?

So what should the RWHP be when the supposed 345hp are unleashed?
