This is my first thread, as I am a new member. I have a 98' Jimmy and when I am turning left i hear metal to metal contact, and is repetitive and increases when I am going through bumps. The banging is coming from the front drivers side.

Does anybody have any suggestions of what may be causing this, what it takes to repair and what kind of price im looking at.( in Canadian Dollars please)

Tough to say w/o hearing it, but i'm suspecting a binding cv joint as you only notice when turning. Buy a complete axle if necessary as that is cheaper than just the joint. Average price for the shaft is $115CDN average labor 1-2hrs.

I know it sound weird but the Torsion bars actually does that if they are crank too hight

Maybe you can check that... it can be a possibility

A broken torsion bar mount can also do that.

Sounds like it could also be a lower ball joint without grease or worn out.

Get it lifted up and check everything out.

Hope this helps.

I also would suggest the torsion bar mount. Jack the vehicle and see if there is any play in the mount ( at the rear of the torsion barr in the area where the cross member attaches to the frame.

The banging that I am hearing comes and goes, Im sure that it is not dirty CV joints as the CV boots are still intact and there doesn't seem to be any cracks, but im no mechanic! Thanks for your opinions and I will try to follow through on the advice. I will let you know when I find the source of the problem.
