2005 Chevy & GMC Trucks

The word from other boards is that the '05 HD's will have a slightly different front end to set them apart from the light duties. A taller grill, with a power bulge like what was seen on the '01-'02 HD's. Other than that, I don't know.

I am interested in this also.. I have confirmed from GM that they will offer a sunroof this year in the Sierra SLE & SLT models, assume Silverado will be the same. Wondering if there will be any other interior changes...

I am new to this website but I would really want to hear more about he 2005 Chevy trucks. I am currently thinking about upgrading but I want to know what is coming out in next year. But the changes with a new front grille for HD would be nice.

Here is a picture from Chevrolet's site in Venezuela (Look for the faded image on the right and the title "Cargo" to find it).

From what I can tell, there is indeed a hood bulge on the truck, a la the 2001-2002 HD styling. Also, it looks like it has a flatter nose or grill, and possibly a bigger band across the grill with a bigger bowtie to boot. This truck is listed as a C3500 with the VORTEC 5.7L V8 and a 5-speed.

It could be worse, though. What if this little guy was the future of the Silverado/Sierra line?

2004 Chevrolet Super Carry Pickup. With an Suzuki F10A 976cc Inline 4 engine producing 44 horsepower and 55 lb-ft torque and a 5-speed.

So THAT'S where the Daihatsu Hi-Jet went to! :chevy::wtf:

I saw a pic of the frontend of the 05 GMC. I think it might have been the HD (No more black strip between the grill and bumper). It's just a front end shot in the new Popular Mechanics. It's the issue with some gyro plane that can pick up 1,000,000lbs. Sorry guys, no scanner.

I saw that issue today, and it shows the GMC logo has been moved to the middle/center of the grill like it has been in the past (pre- '03-'04). Other than that, I didn't see any noticeable exterior changes. I couldn't tell if it had the black strip between the grill and bumper that would set it off from the light duties, but it may only be a cosmetic add-on for the media. The '05 model year is approaching, so we'll soon see what GM has in store for us. :smash::lol:

Here's a wish list of my own, i would like to see a Front Solid Axle uhh a Dana 60 which is seen on Fords F-250, more power from the Vortec 6000 prolly around 325 hp and 510 ft lbs of torque, and last but not least a round wheelbase instead of the SquareWheel base and what i mean a round wheelbase is where the fenders look like a rainbow kinda like Fords F-150 how there wheelbase is, prolly why they look taller with there round wheelbase look, but put that on a silverado and it'll prolly make it look taller but i still like the current model Silverados im Chevy guy all the way :chevy::rolleyes:

I think if GM put a solid axle under the 2500/3500s they would take a lot of sales from Dodge & Ford. Most commercial outfits are buying those makes for construction, service, extreme duty usage.

I know I'd like to see it.

I would love if GM did that, the IFS isn't that bad but it has its draw backs, it's just looks cooler with a solid front axle. A buddy of mine who's a chevy guy transformed a 2003 2500HD from a IFS to a Front Solid Axle and from a distance it really looks cooller with solid axle, in my opinion Front Solid Axles look better on a Chevy then Ford and Dodge cause Chevy has that aggressive look and stuff.

Gm was doing alright till 89 when they switched to IFS, i dont know what changed there mine's to a IFS, those Dana 44's that were on there trucks, blazers, and subs were easy and not to difficult for any aftermarket goods such as lift kits and so on, i just wish they go in that direction but then again front solid axles tend to have difficultys as while my brother owns a 2002 Ford F-250 and his main seals tend to leak and just recently hes having difficulties with hes rotors going out.

I guess everything is 50/50.

Considering the abuse my brother & I put our '82 & '84 K15s thru running 38s & 44s we never had front axle problems. Now w/ the IFS axles & running stock sized tires , we've had axle seal problems. Also, what happens if a CV boot gets torn? Bye bye CV joint. That is one worry you don't have have w/ a solid axle.
