New Guy Needs some help

Hi There:

 

I have a 99 Z71 thats been my baby. My dealer put a piss poor Bug shield on my truck 2 years ago and this winter i noticed that the water runoff was causing major damage to the finish of my grille. I had to get some paint work done because of our fabolous winters up here in buffalo, and my paint guy offered to do a custom job on my worn out grill. At the same time a friend of mine in California just got an 04 1500 and has offered to send his grill over as he is getting some custom work done himself. My question is , will the of Z71 grille mount up on my 99?

 

I took pics of my grille off the truck and so did he and they look like they match up, but i want to be sure before he spends $75 to send it over to me

I'm not completely sure,but I think that the '99 and '04 grills r different

Different light styles and grill height.....

But dont quote me on that...mines a '95 so I'm stuck in ALMOST OLD SCHOOL

I take it you're talking about GMC and not Chevy here?

Because the Chevy is VERY different.

 

GMC is similar and it might even fit, but where the grille dips down into the bumper is differently shaped. I think the dip is smaller on the newer grille so you'll have some gappage.

citydriver is right. The 04 grill will not work on the 99. 03 and up are different. Physically it would fasten on, but the headlight, signal light, hood and bumper contours are different.

 

Shop around as there are plenty of guys selling their used stock grill after replacing with a color matched piece.

Thanks to for all of the help. I think the new GM grill is such an improvement over mine and I'm just jealous. I'm going to have my paint tech color match the grille i have until i decide what i want to do

 

i got a whole bunch of exterior goodies, so i'll have pictures up by the end of the month

I think the '04 GMC oval on the grill is a little shorter due to the lower hood design.

 

Have tape measure in hand and call your friend and do the same,and compare measurements
