New parts installed but I did find a problem

Well everything went great installing the shocks and new brakes. While I was at it I went ahead and did a LOF. I did find one problem.

I found the lower ball assembly boot torn. Just wondering how tough it will be to change it out? Will I need to take it to a machine shop to have the new one pushed in or since I'm still covered under the warranty will this cover it?

BTY, I do like the ride on my truck with the new Rancho RSX shocks.

Thanks

You could just grease it more frequently.......the boot probably tore cause too much grease was pumped in and the boot tore under too much pressure..

But the boot isnt that hard to change if it really bugs you,but you will have to seperate it from the steering knuckle by using a "pickle fork" or by loosening the nut and hitting it w/a hammer :smash: making sure that you have the lower control arm supported by a jack to keep the torsion bar from tearing the control arm off(extreme,I know)

But if you're not used to this type of work have a shop do it,but I prefer to shoot some grease into it once a month.......

Glad to hear your brake job and shocks went smooth. The reason I asked about the pads is because when I replace mine, I want to replace them with what came on the truck. The window sticker had some reference to "Special Brake Pads". They produce no brake dust and are wearing very well.

I had one bust on my 2000. My dealer replaced it under warranty. They replaced the hole ball joint as well. I guess they had to get a little rough with it. The original one was riveted in and the replacement was bolted.

What is LOF?

Lube, Oil, and Filter.

I contacted GM and they will replace the ball joint under the warranty. I'm glad about that.
