I own a 2000 Silverado 2500. i was thinking of putting a k&n intake system kit gen 2 in my truck. i was also thinking of putting a flowmaster exsoust system in. are these a good upgrade? will i have to change anything else because of the new part? Are there any upgrades that will also help in the same price range. also is there a good site to look up grills and other cool looking upgrades? thanks also. ps can i put the k&n in myself with basic tools?

Welcome newbie. The K&N is a good upgrade, I have one myself. I also have a Flowmaster muffler on my exhaust. The install on the K&N is fairly simple, the hardest part is getting those d**n rubber sleeves over the plactic and you don't really need many tools at all. Just don't ruin your filter element before you even put the intake together. I'm not really sure about grilles because I haven't replaced mine but I am looking at Putco grilles. They have a nice variety of them at stylin concepts and tons of other sites. You can also find other parts for your truck that are about the same price, some hopefully cheaper. The only other thing I might suggest is a dictionary or spell checker ---> "exsoust" should be spelled "exhaust" :D Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Exhaust, Intake are good upgrades.. but let me stress to you TUNE TUNE TUNE.. If you do upgrade the exhaust and the intake also get someone to tune your PCM so you can really feel some gains. .. I have the Magnaflow on my truck and i love it..

You can do any mod you want before the tune. A Westers or similar will simply AMPLIFY the gains of the other mods. They can compensate for a new exhaust, intake, blower, fuel octane, torque management, etc. Great deal, I'm getting my Westers as soon as my wife will let me!

i didnt know that. what kind of place does that. and will it be ok to run the intake for awhile before its tuned.,

Yep it sure is ok to run the exhaust and the intake before you get tuned.. you will just notice the power gains once you get a tune. Westers Garageis a good place to get a tune but i would also recommend getting it tuned at Nelson Performance
