Torque Wrenches

I was looking at getting a new torque wrench and was wondering if anyone has any good/bad opinions with the Craftsman 1/2" model that goes to like 150ftlb. They have it on sale for like $60 and looks like it may be decent. Any other good ones in that price range?

Thanks

my dad has that one. Its pretty good. It has been used quite often and has held up well. I have the in-lb version (25-250??? I think it is) I got it for like $49 on sale

Thanks.. I may grab it then. They had 2 different ones at the Sears Hardware here. The one I was looking at (on sale) is the Microtork 1/2" model that goes from 25-150 ft lbs. They have another one called the Digitork that is like $100 and that one goes from 25-250 ft lbs.

Hi, I have the Digitork wrench in both 3/8" and 1/2" and I can say they are deffinetly nice pieces of equiptment. I'd recomend getting those, a lot more versitale and you probably will not have to get another wrench if your just using it for home use.

Even Snap-On does not lifetime warranty their torque wrenches. (have an old Torque-meter from my dad that needs to be fixed/recalibrated). The digitork and microtork wrenches from Crafstman both have a 1yr warranty.

How is the digitork wrench set? I see a little picture of a display but does not show how to set it other than it is in 2ft increments

I realize this is an old thread, but have a question regarding this. I just picked up the Craftsman 1/2 torque wrench that goes from 20-150 ft-lbs. My question is, does anyone have a recommendation for lower torque requirments? I noticed the Haynes manual states items like the oil drain plug require a lower torque than the one I picked up can do, but I need one that will work with the lug nuts also. Ideally would like one all around tool, since the one I picked up was already $70. Thanks.

It's tough to find one that'll go the full range for everything you need. No problem with digging out the old thread, I applaud your use of the search feature. Welcome aboard by the way.
