no, but buy the best shoes and rotors.i put the cheap ones on and 3000 miles and steering wheel is vibrating, junk.i hear a lot are using ceramic and the titanium shoes .i guess they wear the rotors faster but you can stop. i have to start braking way before i turn do to my shoes and rotors, junk. by the best if you are going to keep your truck for years.take care

Quote below is NOT from me, but one I found on another board. I have been researching brakes a LOT lately as I have had it with the JUNK brakes the GM trucks come with and finally decided to break down and do something about it.

My truck is a 99 K1500 (in sig) and came equiped with the JB5 rear drums - which suck and by all acounts seem to be one of the reasons why the brakes are junk in the first place. I recently ordered the parts to convert the rear drums over to the JB6 style (which were on the Tahoe with Police package) and also have ordered Russell SS brake lines and the Stage II kit from Praise Dyno. As you can tell, I am serious about the brakes at this point. I decided the truck was gonna have great brakes or it was gonna get sold - one or the other. Anyway, I have rambled on too long.

Be sure and check this page for a TON of info on GM brakes....... #1 Son Brake Page

Here is the quote I was referring to.......

I run ( and getting ready to put the 2nd set in soon) Raybestos Severe Duty part number SS369 in my '96 hoe. They have been the best I have found yet but I havent tried praise dyno. The severe duty always feel firm. The set usually comes sealed with a set of o-rings and synthetic caliper lube so you can change out the o-ring sliders. Although my current set I just bought didnt come with the o-rings. I pay $42 at NAPA for them which is supposed to be jobber price. I use Raybestos heavy duty bonded in the rear. I like to adjust the rear brakes slightly on every oil change. So far the front severe duty pads have given me 22k miles of service which includes towing a 3k boat and trailer twice a week in the summer and 2,700 lbs of trailer and ATV's in the winter and summer about every other week. They brake very well hot or cold. Just my 2 cents but I think well worth it.

I really like the Praise Dyno stuff that I put on my truck. Cryo treated pads and slotted rotors. www.praisedynobrake.com Stops awesome, no noise, hardly any dust.
