Edge Juice on Duramax

Hey all, hopefully I am not repeating an old topic here... as I have stated previously I have an LLY Duramax and all I have done to it is a drop in K&N filter and The Edge ECU add on.

I have mine on setting 1 and setting 2 for towing. I have heard people say they use setting 4 for regular and setting 2 for towing and see good mileage.

right now with me using the A/C every single day and once in a while putting the hammer down..I see about 13 in the city and much better highway. I have about 2k miles on it so I don't want to rag it out before it has had a chance to break in. I am not complaining about the mileage as my old 6.0l was a dog.

I have heard mixed stories about mileage and the gains/losses... just curious those of you that do have the edge in your Duramax, what settings are you using for reg/tow and what kind of mileage are you seeing?

Thanks

B.

Just got back from a 800 mi trip running around 72mph the entire way and got close to 20mpg with the Juice on level 3 (75hp) the entire way (not towing).

is that what you typically run it at is the 3rd setting? Do you use setting 2 for towing?

a guy I work with said he gets 21mpg and has about 800ftlbs on his Duramax, but I don't know what mods he has. I see gauges, but thats it.

I read somewhere that setting 4 was good for regular and setting 2 was best for towing, but the manual says that setting 1 is the best for economy.. of course

You're best bet is to get a pyrometer and then you can play with the settings more (towing or not). Then you can monitor how hot your engine is getting while under load or acceleration and decide whether or not you need to drop down a power level on the Juice or let up on the go-pedal.

Typically I run down the highway and around town in level 3 with an occational level 4. If I want to have some fun or smoke it up a little I bump up to level 5. If I had my tranny beefed up I'd be in 5 all the time of course. When towing my boat around I'll just leave it on 3 as it's not heavy enough for concern about temps.

This is only what I have heard, as I DO NOT have edge juice. Level one is the best for fuel economy. Level 2 is the max you can use for towing or else your EGT's will get too high and overheat. Level 5 is used just for that one drag race, as constant usage at that level will cause overheat also. And that you should also install a pyrometer along with the attitude as they work together.

its not just a rumor ;-) that is exactly what the manual says, of course they have a side note that says "level 1 is for fuel economy, providing you can keep your foot out of it".. LOL
