8.1L Whipple

I was considering trying to work out a deal with this guy as it doesnt seem he is going to sell it at his asking price. What do you all think? I could save a lot of money on this thing, but im not sure if its worth the hassle of not knowing anything about the unit. Anyone ever buy a used Supercharger (whipple or not), and what Pro's or Con's did you run into? He wasnt sure of the Date of this unit, but he is getting back to me, can anyone tell by looking at it? Just not quite sure if i should wait it out or not.

its a good system just i would be careful because its used, if i was getting it i would put in bigger injectors and retune the pcm instead of going into the core, it also looks like he did some offroading because the stock intake tube is rather dirty, and that conical airfilter he has is more like a rock guard, so fine dirt and a twin screw charger dont work too well with eachother, if it was me i would run some of those new heads for the 8.1, might be a little more money but its sure a lot more safer than a used blower just my 2 cents, but i myself prefer n/a over forced induction

 

edit: i also like that hamburger meat... i mean wiring in that box

Why does he say it's new when it's not.....I would spend the extra money and buy a new one....you never know what your getting with a used part like that, and 4500 isn't to far off from the brand new price.

yeah, you guys are probably right. If im gonna spend the money, i might as well go for the new one. Now if i could just explain to the old lady why a super charger for my truck is more important than remodeling the kitchen, i would be in good shape....

I would pass on that unit...never know what your getting..there is a member I think on here and over on ls1tech (DanaliHD) that bought a used one for his 6.o and it seems as if he has had nothing but problems...plus that charger in the pics looks nothing like mine the idler pulley looks way out of place...if your interested/open for suggestions on where to get a good deal pm me and I'll give you the rundown.
