Factory DVD Installation

Thanks FYRCAPTAIN, those are the pin-outs for the DVD end. Anyone know where they hook up on the 12 pin (C2) harness on the back of the HU? Do they go to the same spots the CDX goes to? I wouldnt think they would, but you never know.

Does someone have the actual pin-out schematic of wire colors and their placement on both the DVD end of the unit and on the "C2" connector on the back of the HU? I am planning on installing this in my truck, but not on the roof. I am going to relocate the DVD player someplace else as well as the screen (if i even use the factory screen at all). But i want it to all interface on my HU like factory, which should be no problem if i have the right schematic/pin-out. There is another thread here showing what the wire colors coming off the DVD harness represent, but if i have no harness or i want to build my own harness from scratch, i will need some more detail. Does anyone have a part number for the harness, or a part number for the 12 and 24 pin connectors and pins so i could just build the harness?

Linda The part # for the harness is 15143668 its like sixty bucks.It has every thing for the roof. The RSE, Sunroof, Dome lights, A/C control, etc. I just pulled out the DVD part since I had everything else in the roof and really did not want to run the whole harness.I have everthing you need if you want to shoot me a E-mail.

And yes it hooks up just like the CDX. Once hooked up the HU will only show it if the DVD is on. I have the TNR it might be different than the INR but the you can control alot more of the DVD with the NAV HU than with the standard HU.

The headliner is part#15143502 it has the cut out and bracing for the Sunroof DVD it runs 355.00 but you can do the same bracing for less if you want to save money.

The harness is the complete wiring for the roof.I separated the DVD portion because I did not want to redo the whole harness( its alot of wiring).Since I added a TNR HU and CDX to the HU. I added the RSE to the HU the Same way.And it looks and works just like OEM.

A new can of worms........

I stopped by the dealership and the parts guy shows me

these new factory matching headrests with the DVD player built into the headrest.

So now I am thinking that this would be pretty cool as each passenger can watch their own movie!

Thankfully I don't have too much tied up yet........

Anyone have or seen these yet?

What do you think?

Are those the Vizualogic ones? If so, then they are indeed a great all-in-one headrest monitor/DVD player solution; I'm thinking of getting a pair myself...

They are actually made by Invision http://www.invisionindustries.com/home_fr.html

The screen tilts out for adjustable viewing and the DVD loads into the top of the headrest. So there is like a separate player / monitor

I also looked at the Audiovox model and they have a tilt out screen but the DVD loads into the top of the monitor. So the player monitor is one unit. Seemed like a little more heat buildup in this one.

Any opinions on the different construction of these two units?

The headrest was dead on for styling and color for my Denali and it retained the articulated feature.

Hmmm, interesting...but IMHO the Vizualogic ones look more "sleek", for lack of a better word, plus I haven't heard one negative as far as the picture quality of their screens are concerned.

So I have been following all the posts, but I still can't figure out where to plug the OTHER end of the harness into. There are also 4 wires that go from this end to another section of the harness. I could splice those in if I could find where this goes on the truck!

Jgentleman could u please send me a pic of that 4 wire conector that plugs into the back of ur HU because was installing a gmos 100 to make my rse sound work and found out somebody pulled the wires out of the 12 pin conector and now I have no clue what color wire goes in what hole so now all I have is the bare wires with the conector but there are only 4 wires just like yours I would really really appreciate it my email is [email protected] thank u
