Console safe?

I saw this today in a Performance products catalogue, looks decent but has anyone actually seen one. I wonder if it kills any of your space?

That's cheap insurance in my mind, especially if you carry more than just CDs and sun glasses in your center console. Pretty cool as well, if I can dig up some more info on it I might get one.

I wouldn't necessarily call it inexpensive either, but compared to some of the other options that replace the entire console, it's not too bad.

And true, if someone really wants to get into something they will....or steal the whole truck and then get into it.

But a lock like that will deter your nosy Valet from snooping around somewhere you don't want him...

plus, it looks totally stock while just looking through the window, so the average thief wouldn't expect that you have something locked up in there...

If it's large enough, that may be a good idea if you need to lock your sidearm before entering a building that doesn't allow you to carry.

I want one!!! I have a concealed weapons permit, and there are a few places we go that I can not have my gun. It would be nice to lock it up in the console in a real safe. Like this weekend I will bring it to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, but can not have it on me at the parade, in a bar, or in the Quarter (you can, but you run the risk of being harrased by the cops big time). I do however think it is quite expensive! I have seen handgun safes that were cheaper than that and they had electronic combinations. Maybe I will weld up my own and bolt it to the floor under the back seat, and cover it with matching carpet??? Could go all out and use 1/4 inch steel, it would be heavy. Future mod in the planning stage!
