tap or distilled water for mixing dex-cool?

Contamination and Dex leads to problems.  I use distilled only.

Distilled only here as well. Better yet, get Dexcool's pre-mix. Already diluted with distilled water, ready to go.

Dealers use tap because they are morons and then truly do not care about our vehicles. Then the dealers don't have to take the blame because the people come up with conspiracies ("Deathcool") and class action lawsuits.

Distilled only.

What are the implications of getting rid of the Dex Cool? I had problems with my 97 5.7 and intake manifold gaskets going away. I was told its from that crap Dex cool, too corrosive according to a Chevy Tech.

Can I get rid of the Dex Cool in my 01 and replace it with std. green coolant, or something else? What is the best replacement? Id rather not keep that red crap in there if its going to eat gaskets and such.

Whats the recommendation here?

TIA

I used the pre-mixed stuff when I did my cam swap, don't want to take any chances. I've heard stories of the older Dex-cool turning to mud in the 4.3's, although I haven't really heard of too many issues with the GENIII engines. Still, I feel that it's cheap insurance.

I've changed everything over to Dex so I can stock only 1 coolant in the garage. Haven't had a single prob to date. Of course I do change the coolant in the non Dex vehicles every couple of years.
