bobby5 Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I have a weird sound coming from the right side of my dash in my 6.0 Silverado. It sounded at first like it was coming from the glove box but it wasnt. It sounds like a light pumping sound. It only does it when its cold and stops when it warms up. What could this be ?

What could this be ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does it kinda sound like an old gurgling percolater coffepot? I believe I have the same noise. Others have said in the past it is air trapped in the heater core. There was a way to supposedly get rid of it that was posted a couple years ago but I don't remember. I never did try to get rid of it, just turned the radio up more
peppersac Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 i have a noise in my driver side dash kinda under the dash. it is a popping noise, and is only does it when it is cold and the inside of the truck is warming up.
GM-Tech Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 We have a lot of AC/Heater actuator problems. They make all sorts of clicking, popping and rhythmic cycling type noises. See if you can change the noise when it's occuring by either changing the mode (upper vents, lower vents, bi-level, etc.) or moving the temp lever(s) to a different setting. If you have auto air, change the temperature setting. If it changes or goes away when you do one of those things, it's that actuator. In the C/K trucks, we see mostly driver's side temp actuators making noise, but I've seen a few on the right and a few mode actuators. In the Trailblazer, it's always the mode actuator. We also get quite a few complaints about the hissing sound the A/C makes when on, but this is south florida and we always use A/C down here. Not sure you're using the A/C where you're at. This particular noise is freon passing through the orifice and cannot be eliminated.

When the selector is on heat/defrost mix, it makes that sound everytime the compressor cycles. Asked the dealer about it, never heard of it, no bulletins. Drives me crazy.
