Leveling Kits

I am thinking about purchasing one of the leveling kits off of Ebay for my 2001 GMC HD2500. Has anyone installed one of these? Is it easy to install? Did it give you clearances needed for your wheels and tires? Do you have any pictures that you could post? Any help would be very appreciated! I have already installed 16x8 wheels and 285/75R16 tires! I just need to add the inexpensive 1.5-2.0" so the tires will not rub any. Thanks for your help!

I had two installed last week. One on my 2003 Yukon XL 2500 and one on my friends 2005 2500HD. They took about an hour each and we got between 2"-3" of lift. The ride gets a little harder but they look soooooooooo much better.

For your HD you can just buy keys from GM. This is what are called "green keys". They are the stock the 1500 series 1/2 tons. They have the same index as those Ebay keys and half those kits on Ebay are stock keys with the #'s ground off but charge double the price. The GM # you need is 15592573 and they are about $25 each at the dealership or you can buy them on line.

Had mine in for over two years now at 2" and they only take about 30-60 min to install depending if you have the unloading tool or not. Just remember to take some fender height and adjuster bolt measurements before doing it so you can alway put it back where it stock if needed. Also get an alignment done after lifting! Good luck!

Thanks for the replies! I really like the look of the Cognito Motorsports design! Has anyone got this installed on their vehicle? For everyone that has the "Green Keys" installed on their truck, have you had any problems such as wierd wear on the tires or other components that might be in this area of the truck?

Thanks HDRado, I'll ask the boss. Anyways, I finally received my Cognito kit and it won't work!!! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! My wheels have too much backspacing (6") for the kit to work properly. My wheels actually rub on the upper control arm before I even get close to full crank. Even with the included 1/4" spacer. Oh well, anybody interested in a 1-day old Cognito Upper Control arm kit?

I am. Is it the kit for stock shock location or did you get the dual shock mount also? Any other stuff with it like shocks, or the idler re-inforcement(whatever its called) bracketry?

I just picked up a 2500HD 6.0L yesterday to replace the 1500 which was rear-ended a few months ago (my heart wasn't into paying another 2 years on a truck which had been wrecked ). I had replaced the factory keys on my 1500 with Ford Keys...... so I can use the keys I removed from the 1500 on my 2500HD (I kept the factory keys and did not take them off the truck before I traded it in). Am I thinking correctly about this?? Just checking to make sure!!

Yes your stock 1500 keys will work on your 2500 as lift keys, they are the green keys and will give you 2" to 3" over your stock 2500 (purple) keys.
