To tint or not to tint...

To have the two front windows tinted in California is not permissable, but I observed many have there's tinted. Are police really cracking down or what. I need the 411, are being pulled over and having to remove your tint.

I am from indiana so this post probably doesnt help

I have mine "legal" tint for this state.  From far away it looks like the rear ext cab windows (dark).  Up close you can see in somewhat.

I have yet to be hasseled by the police and one town has it in for me.  I always get dirty looks from the cops

Id say go for it as long as its legal your fine.  My receipt said "LEGAL TINT" i carry it around in my truck to be on the safe side

I've been in Cali for over 10 years and have had all my cars tinted.  Not just tinted but limo'd out on the fronts.  I got pulled over once and sited for them, but I was pulled over because he said my flow's were to loud and he asked me to roll up my window.  Total bulls###.  I think it doesn't matter as longer as your not a crazy driver and act like an idiot.

Here's my 2cents.  I personally hate it when people tint their windows.  When I run, bike, or even drive my truck, and I see a driver at an intersection or backing out of a driveway or parking space, I'm always watching their eyes so I know if they see me.  If I have a hard time seeing their head, how am I going to see their eyes?  ??? I know you were refering to the back window, but what about backing up?  I've heard the Ave's have tiny back windows, huge tail gates and are a pain to back up.  Ok, I'm off my soap box now.  :)  I agree with Ryan on keeping the receipt with you and make sure it is Cally legal.

??? Same in CT.  I have always had my front windows tinted and have never had a problem.  From what I have found out here (I have a few friends that are cops), is that most cops won't just pull you over for the tints.  However, if you are pulled over for something else, you'll probably be fined for the tint.  Like someone said, if your not driving around like an @$$hole, then you probably won't have a problem.  It a risk you have to take.  The bottom line is that you technically ARE doing something illegal and if sited, you have no argument at all. ;)

Here in Illinois it's illegal to do the front side windows, but that didn't stop me from doing a 28% grade tint last weekend.

It looks awesome on an Indiglo Blue truck

i live in FL and its illegal to tint the fronts very deep at all.  i had mine matched to the factory rear windows and havent had any problems at all for many months now, even though it is illegal. none of my friends have any problems either and they all have deeper tint than me.  i wouldnt worry too much, you only live once.
