I drove today by my Chevy dealer and there was a nice Silverado 2005, 2500HD WT.It has the 6.0 engine but does not list the type of transmission .The truck has been traded in and has only 1600 miles on it. Its ext.cab vinyl floors nothing flashy. I got to talk to the manager and he said they will let it go for $ 27.000 .Is this good price? Any input is greatly appreciated

I'd be suspicious right off the bat because 1500 miles is just enough to have been a problem truck for the original owner. Ask to see the service history on it.

I'd get a service history too. 27000 seems a bit high to me, for that price you could get a brand new one especially in a work truck package.

Well I did ask him how the truck got on the used car lot and he said that some one wanted 4 doors and just traded it in. But next I will ask for the service history.

Price may be bit hi but what is the right price? If the truck was new it's easy to deal on sticker price but that one is used and I do not know what the sticker price was to begin with.

Here is the MSRP on a similar truck. Infact, if you know the exact options it has just build it on this site.

Hmm I guess they are right on the mark with the $27,000 looking at the GMC .I just talk to them and they are trying to get me 4.5% interest rate we will see.

They might be able to give you *that* too. Or just copy down the options from the sticker in the glove box and go price out a new one.

I've found that (well, here anyway) for the price and payments of a used truck of only a year old or so, you can get a new one for about the same price. With a new truck, at least you know how you've taken care of it.

My brother just got a brand new 2500 extended cab 4x4 with power everything except leather for 26,500.

I'd be suspicious of a truck only having 1500 miles also.

I'd check new prices, and get the 8.1 if you tow heavy, if for nothing else the extra gear between 2 and 3 or is that 3 and 4. it's like an extra 2k and only lose around 2 mpg and less when you tow heavy.

I just ran a quote through carsdirect.com. They've been spot on for me in the past while working with a local dealer and came up with this...

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4x2 Extended Cab 6.6 ft. box 143.5 in. WB Work Truck

MSRP Price: $29,820

Invoice Price: $26,460

Manufacturer Rebates:($3,500)

Target Price: $23,710

Pricing as of 05/12/05 in zip code 39042

That is the with the 6.0L, Auto, 4.10 Rear, not really many other options

For the 4wd, same setup as above:

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4x4 Extended Cab 6.6 ft. box 143.5 in. WB Work Truck

MSRP Price: $31,850

Invoice Price: $28,268

Manufacturer Rebates: ($3500)

Target Price: $25,518

Pricing as of 05/12/05 in zip code 39042

That doesn't sound like a very good deal to me, I'd tell him to get down to about $22,000 or so if he wants to sell it. :D

Something don't sound right. The guy buys a work truck then 1500 mi later decides he wants 4 doors? The price seems way too high as well. Ask for the previous owners name/phone ask him whats up.

Well what can I tell you guys...the deal is off? I just found out that the truck had transmission replaced and I walked a way from the deal. Why they did not disclosed that at the beginning is beyond me.

Any way I want to thank you guys for the replys, without your help I would have been sucked in

Thanks again. John

:D
