I am getting a service 4x4 light, what makes this light come on, you can stop and turn the truck off for a few minutes and the light will clear.

The Pushbutton 4x4 swith with 4 hi, 2 hi, neutral and 4 low

Sounds like it could possibly be the switch going out.  I have heard they are quite common.

 

Yep, that'd be the first place I'd look. If you had access to a scanner, knowing the DTC would be helpful.
