aftermarket air system

I would like any info on the volant system as compared to the K&N.  I believe in  cold induction is better than other systems  exposed to warm hood air.  And if i choose the volant system , should the computer be programed with more air intake?

I think the Volant has a metal intake tube.  I was under the impression that it absorbs more heat from the engine than the FIPK plastic tube, and therefore defeats the "cold" air induction somewhat.  It has to be very minimal though in my opinion.  I haven't seen any side by side comparisons to see which actually performs better though...

I couldn't really tell you the difference.  They both promote the same hp and torque gains.  The reason I went w/ the K&N was becuase it was a lil' cheaper.  Other than that it's all personal preference.  Either system will work great and can be modified for an even greater gain if you look at the set up and deflect more air flow to it

i think one main differences would be that the volant takes its air from the outside only.  this might not help performance to be better than the K&N, but it would be of great benifit if you went offroad.  Ive personally always wondered what would happen after you got rid of the protected factory airbox and had that open element, and went through a huge puddle or something.   just my .02
