Zaino, got scratches

Recommended Posts

Okay, I think it's about time for my first round of Zaino. Since I took the truck up to Taos, NM for X-mas I have a bunch of little scratches from all the sand and crap.

Will the Zaino stuff take it out?

I've heard it's a weekend project. Recommendations? What's the order of stuff?

Any GP info?

i use a little bit of rubbing compound on scratches before wax and polish. i thought you may want to try that.

Hey jason,

The guys over at LS1.com talk more about removing "Swirls" in their finish. I'm not certain if "swirls" and "scratches" are synonymous? I have read that some "compounds" will take down your clearcoat so be careful. Go over to the LS1 board and read some of the past post.

I know the biggest chore with Zaino is the initial cleaning to strip the old wax. You have to use some dishwashing liquid and then most persons use the claybar to get rid of all the contaminants in the finish. I wasn't this anal with mine.

One tip! Go with very small amounts. This is not like wax. You will not see a big pastie haze when it drys therefore you need to be pretty vigilante about keeping track of what areas you've covered.

Once you get the 1st treatment done....you can complete additional coverages in about 45 min.

You can also get in on Zaino GP's over at LS1 if your lucky.

Yeah, it takes alot of time but it is well worth it.  I had a weekend tied up in doing mine but it's supposed to last longer than other waxes.  So far I have been very pleased with the Zaino.  I haven't used any of their scratch remover though.

I use Zaino on all my cars and it holds up incredibly well.  It is one of the most durable finishes I have found.  The first application steps are a pain, but after that 20 mins. is all it takes to keep it up.  It also does not attract dust which is nice. :D

The Zaino Z5 (I think will do wonders for many fine scratches). I have used Zaino for quite some time now and love it. A friend had a dark blue BMW with horrible swirl marks and the Z5 almost completed removed them.

I have been looking into Zaino products to use on my new AV.  My past expereince with wax was Turtle Wax or equilavent.  This is all new to me.  I have search this BB, LS1 and others.  There is a lot of good information at these sites on Zaino, what it does and doesn't do and how to use it.  I did find two testimonial sites of interest.

1) This site presents a wax "test" that is not very scientific but at least it is presented by someone that swore by another product that lost to Zaino.

Polish "Test"

2) This site discusses how Zaino is different from waxes.

Zaino Difference

The second site also discusses how to apply it.  The Z5 product is used to reduce or eliminate swirls and scratches.

I hope this helps you.
