It's quintessential Hollywood.

That story captures the essense of the Hollywood armchair quarterbacking crowd. They're idiots, so they only grasp the superficial nature of things. And since they're fiendishly rich, they think their opinions matter more than the "common man." They're deluded about the importance of their actions, and preoccupied with self importance even in their delusion.

I pity them.

Sean Penn needs to be drug out and shot. Not just for this, but all his past actions. He is one of the most Anti-American people I know who constantly shrowds himself with the very freedoms that he complains about being provided to him.

In my opinion, the damage was underestimated and water just kept flowing in, well after the storm passed, yet another underestimation. The fact that a large number of people did not evacuate, be it stubborness, lack of ability or those who decided to stay for the sake of looting, things got out of control very quickly. I feel the the mayor and the governor should have been more pro-active with their comments after the fact instead of complaining about results. If the extent of the damage would have been more acurately forcast (but who really could), results would have come quicker.

In the end, this is a sad tragedy and those like Sean Penn need to quit bitching and lend a helping hand!

I disagree (about the second part). I think what he does is about as distinctly American as you can get. I'd like to see him pull his BS shenanigans in Korea or China. He is free to complain, protest, whine, pay for a full page ad in the NY Times bashing Bush and his policies (he's done this a couple of times I believe), or bitch and moan all he wants. That's what being an American is all about. We are allowed to do exactly that. The second we start dragging people out and shooting them (I'm pretty sure you were being sarcastic, I'm just using that to illustrate my point) for their opinions, however asinine we think they may be, is the second we stop being free.

I can't stand Sean Penn either, and I hate 99% of what he has to say, but I'll defend until my death his right to say it.

We are free to be members of the KKK, or even the Communist party if that's what we want to do. I think that's awesome (don't worry, I'm a member of neither) :loser: Liberals can be liberal, and conservatives can be conservative...And somehow we make it all work.

My personal view is...Freedom isn't easy. You have to allow for a man whose words make your blood boil and your fists ball up in rage. You have to tolerate those who stand under a spotlight screaming at the top of their lungs about things you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. Everybody has a voice, no matter how stupid or disillusioned that voice may be.

That is what we defend, and that is what we should fight to keep.

Man...I don't know where that came from....I just started typing and it turned into a rant..I should probably see a therapist. :shakehead:

Wingnut, I agree with what you said, BUT, what he says and how he says things undermines other people, especially our troops overseas, no matter where they are stationed. THAT is what honks me to the hilt. Agree or Disagree with where they are or what they are doing, THEY need to be supported and honored, period.

Penn is an idiot.
