skid plate

I have an 01 Z with a fabtech lift and i want to put on a skid plate. The only problem is that fabtech does not have a skid plate. They do on the desert guard but I already have a grille guard and want to keep it. I just want a skid plate b/c i hate the plastic factory one that i have. Could I get a skid plate for superlift or procomp and custom fit it to fit my truck. If it is at all possible. Or should i get a steel plate and custom cut it and fit it.

I would go with an aluminum plate and custom cut and fit it. Aluminum is a lot easier to work with and is a lot lighter than steel and the best thing is it doesn't rust. It may not be as strong, but Fabtech's and most of the other companies skid plates are made of Aluminum.
