shock replacement

I was wondering if anyone has tried those Monroe Sensatrac shocks on their trucks?

Ive got a 2000 silverado 1500 Z71 and I need to replace the shocks. It has the factory shocks and they kinda suck....

I was thinking about the Sensatrac shocks but wanted some feed back from someone who has used them.

My dad put a set of sensatracs on his 2wd '97 and i was very pleasantly surprised and impressed with them.

No experience with any on a 4wd sorry.

I agree that the stock shocks are less than stellar.

I have the sensatracs on the rear of my silverado with the overload spring option. I do like those shocks. I also went with the Monroe version of the Rancho RSX on the front. I wasn't pleased with those shocks, they are much too firm. When I replace them, I will have the sensatracs on the front. (unless I have the extra money to put Rancho 9000s on)

Completely different beast. However, I had Sensatrac's on my 90' Blazer all the way around and found them to be quite durable and offered a nice ride with reasonable help from heavy loads. (Use to use my truck for hauling heavy stuff as well)

Yes I have alot of experience...all of it good. I just put a set on my 02 z71 and are very pleased with them (55,000miles). I do limited off road driving so I was happy to find a shock that works very well on road as well as off.

I looked at the ranchos and kyb and edlebrock yada, yada, yada....if you are going hard core off road you wouldn't be asking about sensatrac.

They are a great shock without the bling. Plain black, mine didn't even have decals which is great. 4 fewer things that I have to worry about keeping clean. On a stock z71 with 285's you can't hardly see the shock anyway.

Go for it. I got mine at advance auto parts for around 35 a piece I think.

Im not sure about the 2000, but I know for sure atleast up to 99 the Z71's came with bilsteins from the factory, which is a pretty decent shock. Is that what yours came with or something else?

No I dont beleive they come with Bilsteins anymore. Not sure what kind they are. All I know is that they are blue in colour. Or at least used to be. I used to have an 89 Z71 that came with bilsteins..........the 89 had far superior shocks than my 2000.

My 99 NBS Z71 came with red Tenneco's from the factory. They were replaced by me with Bilstein HD's around 36k and there's been no looking back.

I put sensa tracks on my 88 k1500, i like the ride, not too stiff, not too firm. The new brandname is reflex i think, and i'm going to use them on my 2000 4x4 silverado.

Mine is a 97 and i know for sure it has bilsteins, but my dads is a 99 and I thought it had bilsteins but they changed them from yellow to red, I very well may have been wrong though. Im at 82k, and I still have the originals, they are still in pretty decent shape, the guy who had it before me must have taken it easy on them, However, I am a different story.

I have the Z85 "Heavy Duty" suspension, and I'm told they use the same shocks on it as they do with the Z71. I believe they are Tenneco shocks. They are pretty flabby, if you ask me.

I put a set of Monroe Reflex Shocks on my 2004 Crew Cab 1500 4X2 and I love the ride. The truck went from a bouncing POGO Stick to a comfortable, firm and well controlled ride. Previous to that the Monroe Sens-a-Tracs did the same thing for my 95 Toyota T100 XtraCab SR5 2WD.

The previous poster said it right. It's a really good shock with out the BLING - BLING price tag.

I have Monroe Reflex shocks on my '03 4x2 and love them. The Sensatracs are real good too. They'll give a nice ride with good road response. The overload spring option is great if you pull a trailer or load up a lot. They improve the handling and control quite a bit with a load.

Is the overload spring option something in the reflex shock or is it some other part?

Based on everyones feedback im pretty sure I am going with the Monroe reflex. I occasionally pull a trailer and that overload spring thing sounds like a good idea. I just want to make sure that when I order the shocks I know what im talking about.
