Heated Mirrors not working

So we are having our first real snow fall of the year and it appears that my heated mirrors are not working. Turn on read defogger and the mirrors do not melt any of the snow off . It is both mirrors so I do not think they both failed... but I could be wrong there.

Questions: 1- I checked the rear defroster fuse ant that is fine.. is there another fuse that goes to the mirrors??

2- How to I actually check them other than to go "they don't melt snow"?

Thanks

The heating elements in the mirrors are supplied power and ground by the driver and passenger door module. I'm assuming everything else works, i.e. the mirrors move, etc., then it's not a power issue.

Either the two door modules are not seeing the command from the HVAC controller to turn on the heaters, or both heater elements are toast, which would not be as unusual as one might think.

We have seen the heating elements fail in quite a few of these mirrors,Its more common for the passenger side to fail,Why I don't know but thats what we are seeing up here.

I wouldn't doubt at all that both elements are bad.

I've noticed the same problem with both of my mirrors not defrosting also. All other mirror and door functions are fine. Is the heating element actually bonded to the back of the glass? Or is it in the mirror housing? Can the mirror be snapped out of the housing and tested? Would really appreciate the help with this as I was really liking this option when it worked.

The heating element is within the mirror glass, it's not part of the housing. You could go to either door module and check for power and ground when they're supposed to be on. It's an orange wire and a black wire.

I have same problem with my pass side mirror. How do I remove, repair, fix or do what with it? Is this a big and expensive fix?
