With all the talk about war and natural disaster and bird flu, the question came up about the next big event in world history. As my profession is a Pastor and counselor, I see many questions about what the next day holds. Any takers on the hot topic. ( I know , no religion, or politics) but hey it is off topic. If any are interested im an escatoligist, (one who studies things about the future) I hold a BA in theology and love watching Biblical news unfold on CNN

The next big event in world istory? Well I think Europe will finally unite and eventually the Bilderbergs will get their wish of a one world goverment. Then the second event after that? Maybe the second comming (anyone hear trumpets?")

Oh I forgot, I am more than likely going to hell. Not that I am a bad guy or somthin. I am a real teddy bear actually, but it would be my luck that when I die I will eather miss the celestrial buss, train or whatever. Or if I am alive when the second comming happens I will most likely be on the hopper squashing one out and miss it. Come out with TP stuck to my shoe wondering where everyone went.

Don't forget about purgatory. That's where you'll find me. I was told once by some thumper that since, when I was a baby, I was baptised for my mothers family and christened for my fathers family, my soul was in limbo. I told him I wasn't good at that sort of stuff on account of my bad back. He said no, no, no, I mean religious limbo, your soul is lost. I said sh!t!!! I thought I had a double stamp goin' for me.

Then a Catholic buddy of mine told me that the christening was stronger or some crap. Basically I think he was saying that Catholocism was trump, and no matter the Babtism, cause I was Catholic. Almost made me want to go somewhere and pray. I went to a Polish Catholic wedding in Chi-town once, way too much gettin' up and sittin' back down, and then gettin' up again. It's was all really tough on my back! So I decided the Catholics would have to do without me.

I was in a really bad car accident a few years back. While I was sitting in the smoke filled cab of the car right after the accident, me and the lord had a talk and came to our own agreement. I think he's happy with it and it keeps me from having to go to the show every Sunday.

If any of this offends, please

Pastor Scott is talking about the "next big event". I also am a Christian, but prefer to not spend much of my Christian focus on eschatology, but rather on my relationship with Christ, knowing more about Him, and maintaining my relationship with Him. Indeed, I think He enjoys mud-crawling with my four-wheeler with me. Dr. William Bell from Dallas Baptist College stated, ""It is evident, then, that {the pretribulation rapture doctrine} has achieved a status and a mystique among many Christians and Christian groups today which seem to be entirely out of proportion to its relative significance in Christian theology as a whole."

So, to wake this thread up a bit, here is my take on "the next big event".

For starters, such an event can always be weather. How we reacted to Hurricanes Rita and Katrina might get us involved in what I consider to be the next definitive "big event". And this one really is worrisome.

I think the next Big Event is going to be similar to 9-11. I fear that our pathetic reaction, as a nation's ability to "fix things", our old "can do" attitude, "rolling up the shirt sleeves", I fear that we have lost our edge. The NEXT BIG EVENT will make 9-11 pale.

I fear this event is going to be nuclear and our inability to properly react will be make the actual event itself small. Terrorists planting devices in overpasses, bridges, etc., will paralyze the country, basically by our own reaction. If the Golden Gate Bridge is blown, I fear the entire national highway infrastructure will be suspect. How we react to such an awful thing, will determine how we recover as a nation.

And after seeing the mess of Rita and Katrina, I worry. I'm sure the global terrorists are still taking notes.

Second big event...........: South America. Many South American nations are forming an axis, joining up with Cuba and Venzuala. Obviously, this axis is anti-american. With the Middle Eastern nations barely tolerating us, and this new axis, things could become very interesting, especially with contracted cheap labor for American goods and our imported oil.

So, basically, that's my take. Two big events: nuclear injury to our infrastructure by terrorists, but our reactions will exaggerate the issue. South American anti-americanism evidenced by the new Venzualean and Cuban axis.

Well as a devout Christian, I try and not think about the future to much. In 2 Peter 3:10 it says that Jesus will come back like a thief in the night. We will not know when he comes back. It will be when we least expect it.

I don't think its wrong to think about the future. But I personally prefer to spend the time that I have right now on this earth to spread the gospel and save as many souls as possible.

I personally think spending "to much" time worrying or thinking about the future is a waste of time. We don't know when its coming. Its like guessing when the next time I fart. I know its coming, I don't know when, I know some good and probably some bad will come out of it, but its not worth worrying about it and guessing when it will come.

My main concern in life it to make sure that I and my wife of almost 2 years make it to heaven, and bringing as many people as possible to the gossple, so they can obey it, so they can go to.

The following is supposedly an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different Religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell.

Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.

With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you", and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that

since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A".

Honestly, it kind of creeps me out when some Christians say that they are excited when they see disasters happen that they believe have been predicted. Regardless of what floods, war, etc... may or may not mean, I never love or get excited about seeing them happen. I can't feel that way when good people are getting hurt and dying.

Posted

Well first of all I don't know why a Christian nor anyone in this world would be excited over a disaster. But with each and every new disaster there are those that think the end of the world is coming. Even tho there has been many more violent and unthinkable diasters before any of us were born.

Well the problem with all of that is......no one is in Hell right now!!!!!

Everyone that is dead is currently in a waiting place. In the Old Testament it is called Sheol or the grave. In the New Testament it is called hades. The waiting place is divided into two sections one called torments, and the other is called paradise (Luke 23:43). These places are not the final stop for man, but serve as the place of waiting. Jesus now holds the keys to death and hades (Revelation 1:18).

But when Jesus come back we will be judged and sent to Heaven or Hell.
