Power window switch backlighting

Just bought an 01 Suburban, and the passenger side, and one of the rear pwr window switches do not light up. Are these bulbs replaceable?

I took the whole assembly out, but was not able to get the back cover off of the box containing the switches. Sure didn't want to pull to hard and break the whole thing.

I got a switch off Ebay so that I can experiment wiht getting mine apart. It is possible or so I've heard. You wil probably need some tiny bulbs from Radioshack or the like. They are soldered in so soldering experience is preferred. I get the switch on the 10th so will be playing with it soon after, PM me and remind me if you haven't figured it out by then.

I've been told also that they're soldered in. I would just buy a new switch honestly. Check junkyards, or go to gmpartsdirect.com

I would check it if you do buy one on a junkyard, they could just as likely not light up either. The one I bought supposedly works but I'm not holding my breath. A new should work with no concern there.

First you have to yank off the rockers on the switch. Then pry the little tabs to take the case off. The led is soldered to the board.

Thanks for the responses. I went to the junkyard and bought all the switches I needed just to get the lights to work. A little nit-pickey I know, but it's nice to get everything working right when you get a new vehicle.

Now I noticed a couple of the little light are out on the stereo. Are these replaceable? It's the ones that light up the 1 and the 4.

Yank it out and put in a carputer with a touchscreen. Thats what I did when my stereo died.

I don't believe they are LEDs, LEDs usually last a VERY VERY long time, they will outlast the truck. The lights in the radio/climate control, and probably window switches are just old cheapies that burn out very quickly and easily because GM didn't want to spend an extra $0.75 for LEDs.

Good point. I wondered why everyone was having problems with lights burning out. They look just like LED's because they are soldered in.
