Interesting to say the least, I'd bet GM wants to wait until after the new Tundra is released on Feb 4th. It's all over the net that the next Tundra will have a 5.8L V8 with 380-400hp and torque #'s about the same with 10,000lb towing capacity (not the HD version which is coming in a couple years). The Silverado/Sierra better do better than that if they want the market to go GM! Chris

Not real sure why gm is waiting so long everybody knows there's a change. If ya ask me there draging there feet and thats how they got where they are...

I don't think toyota could build that powerful of an engine much less build a frame to handle it, I Mean the Tundra's Frame is flimsy

Waiting to check out the competition, if they are being out done, they can make some revisions to one up the competitors. In the end better GM, which is not how they got where they are, and based on the new Tundra release I think they are definately holding there hand, this is a major competitor in the world market share.

There has been rumors of a Toyota HD in 2008 with a giant diesel rated around 400HP (I am sure I read it on this forum). Don't count them out, they see a chunk of the market share and they won't set idly. Dark days are coming. I used to think there would never ever be a full-sized import. The critics love imports and the masses eat up thier articles, leading to high sales.

I can't find the post on GMInsideNews, but a writer for a magazine said that a major player was coming around the corner with a 400hp gas engine, and it was NOT any of the "big three". Must be Toyota, it's the only one releasing a new truck this year besides GM. Toyota is about 2-3 years away from having the Tundra in a HD form with a diesel, some rumors have them talking with Cummins and Hino. I don't know if this is true, I read it on GMInsidenews under the competition section, but there is 31 pages of posts, and I don't have time to find the exact post. We'll see in Chicago. Chris
