Escalade headlight ?

Recommended Posts

My brother just got back from the dealer and they tell him its gonna be $490 to replace his low beam that blew on 03 Escalade :chevy: He's not a real car guy so I figured I would look it up because that cant be right ,and sure enough its $200 but thats still just for the bulb :D

Umm are these things made out of gold or what? The high beam is $7.00 though

Is there another source for these magic headlights other than gm ? :dupe:

I assume they are HID ,I used Fred Bean gm catalog online which does not say , but still 200 clams is a lot of loot for a light bulb.

Sounds like HID--the entire HID assembly (including ballast and starter) is built into the headlight housing...hence why you can't just "simply" replace a blown low-beam HID.

Try local junkyards. Should be able to get one for about 1/2 price. Most wrecking yards nowadays have a computerized nationwide inventory so finding the headlight should be no problem. For high profile late model parts they usually charge 1/2 price of the new part.

I use JUNKYARD DOG for finding used parts on line. this connects me to the local Junk yards and has helped me dicker on used prices with these yards.

Welcome to the world of Cadillac, GM's high price line. Hehe.

Actyally that price falls in line with other Mfg. HID replacement cost.

A co-worker has a Nissian Maxima with HID, One burned out the dealer at first said that they were only replaced as a set (L&R) @ $ 1,500.00. after a few phone calls to Nissian Customer relations dept the dealer called him back and made arrangements to replace just the 1 bad light but it was still in the same ball park as the caddy's replacement.

I guess you pay to play the good life.

I wonder if we will be seeing a hugh drop in prices for replacement HID lights as these vehicles get older and start to see the used market in the 3rd or 4th owner OR will someone in the after market sell a adapter kit to replace with Halogen ?

Cadillac vehicles = Cadillac prices. Thats why i buy Chevrolet :-))

You mean, Cadillac vehicles = Chevy/GMC vehicles at Cadillac prices...LOL!!!

Yeah I know that some Caddy models aren't derived from their Chevy/GMC brothers and sisters... :jester:

OK, but if you have the money to buy a 40 to 50 thousand dollar vehicle, 200 to 400 bucks for a headlight wouldn't kill you. GM knows that, Rich people don't care they just want it to work!!!!!!!!!
