Escalade ext faster than 1500 crew?

Looking for some opinions here. My boss has a 03 escalde ext. he says its really quick. I know the escalades have the 6.0 h.o and i'm sure they move pretty good. He wants to race me, probably because he thinks he will win,lol. I have the 05 crew cab,5.3L, 3.73 gears,westers 87-89 tune, k&n drop-in, magnaflow muffler. As far as i know he doesnt have any mods. Wondering if his truck weighs more, they are both 4x4's. Well his is all-wheel drive anyway,lol. Think i have a chance or should i not even try?

Oh...and just so y'all dont think i'm crazy enough to do it in a crowded area we have a new subdivsion area that we are developing with a couple roads that dont have houses on them yet so it should be fairly safe. cops cant do anything because the county hasnt accepted the road yet. We have just over a querter mile to race. Perfect.

First off...you said he was your boss? Just give it to him. Tell him no way, that he has a 6.0 and will stomp you. Not that would be entirely true, but it's like a locker room deal...if you are bigger you won't be getting the pay increase nor the chioce job projects.

I would run him and let him win. It would be a lose race & win later on in pay. When you lose the race you will know you could have won or not and he would be happy.

It will be pretty even.

But I have a better idea, drill a hole in his gas tank before the race so that you guys can't race therefore you keep your job

I agree with Tucson and redvett, let him win . . . or did you not want that Christmas bonus? Maybe after the race you could have a few beers and then a rematch on scooters

Bet him that if you win you get a raise. If you lose you buy him a mod for his Escalade.

Well, it looks like today might be the day. Not too worried about a raise or keeping my job,lol, i just got word that i will be laid off unless people start buying some houses here. But with the whole GM-Delphi butt hump going on i dont see that happening any time soon. So now that i know about the lay off i really want to make sure i can beat him, Kind of my way of sticking it to the man,lol

I noticed in some of my other cars i had when i was younger that if you drove them hard for a little while that they would feel like they re-programed them selves and felt quicker. do our trucks do the same? I havent really noticed it because i only get on it hard once in a while. Dont want to abuse this truck.

So as far as opinions on who will win it looks like you guys think it will be close.

Oh and about brake torqueing this truck, i only tried it once briefly and it didnt want to turn the tires over. I think the brakes on this 05 are a real improvement over past years.

Unhook the battery the day before you race and that will clear the fuel & ign. tables.

If it were me....I'd race him and if he won, it would because he really did.

 

Personally, I think you'll take him....with that AWD in his truck, think it will slow him down.

yeah i will let ya know. What about a couple of gallons of racing fuel ? will it hurt or help anything? Dont think i have time to take the battery cable off today cause the boss man just got here,lol. Hope the steets are clean back there or i will have to use four wheel drive and there goes my advantage over him having AWD. Watched him race his brother in a Ford focus the other day, it was pretty even. Those little things are pretty quick, surprised me. Of course it was a very short race with a 90 degree turn in it so i'm not sure it was very fair.

Why abuse your truck like this? Not to mention the risk to you and others for a few minutes of fun. If you want to race do it on a race track under controlled conditions.

Read my post. They are controlled conditions. We own the road and its blocked off from the public. If someone chooses to trespass then it they have broke the law, as far as abuse goes i dont think a 1/4 mile or so run is going to hurt anything on the truck. If it does then i guess i bought the wrong truck. The automakers put so much torque managment in these things i dont think you could blow it up if you held it to the floor for hours,lol.
