True dual exhuast

I got a stock 06' sierra 4.8L that I'd like to add exhuast to and maybe some new headers. Wanting to get something real loud and low and was thinking of getting a 40 series flowmaster true dual set-up. My brothers got the 40 series and has it dumped before the rear tires and its decently loud.

Will the true dual set-up be any louder than what my brother has and should I consider any other kind of exhuast. Also, what are some good header/exhuast combos that sound really nice?

Go with true duals. I have had them on 4 different trucks with no problems and I drive like a maniac. Some people dont think there is enough back pressure but I have not had one problem with any of my trucks. I have mine turned out behind the rear wheels and it is plenty loud.

Dynatech Supermaxx Headers, and a true dual with an X or H pipe

If you get true duals get an X pipe in the system. If not you will lose low end torque. You have to have a lot of HP (600+) before you can go without the X pipe. I had a vet with 350 HP and it had factory true duals with an X pipe if that tells you anything.

thanks for the info. Also wondering wether this set-up will get me better gas mileage?

They may make more MPG in the 4500rpm plus range, since thats where you will get your power gains from. Which is where you will never be driving.

But with a single, you may receive more MPG in the lower RPM's, and you will definitly get more power in the lower RPM range, where you drive 99.9% of the time.

Plus with a 5000lbs.+, brick shaped truck, you want all the low end grunt you can. IMO.

Highly unlikely. In fact, maybe just the opposite. You'll have your foot into it more just for fun, and with a little less torque down low, you may need a little more throttle to get going. But it shouldn't be too bad.

What's the price average on a true dual vs. "fake" dual? I don't want something real loud, just a nice "Throaty V8" sound at idle, and a decent rumble at throttle. Like a well tuned Mustang I guess. Not something that you hear from 6 blocks away, but when you are at a stoplight, the guy next to you would notice its different than every other GMC. What would you guys reccommend then?

I got a hooker Aerochamber and really like it. I would say it is in between the flowmaster and magnaflow on loudness. I don't get any cab noise on the highway at all, but you can hear it when you get on it. I have an aerochamber 3" inlet dual 2.25" outlet that I am trying to sell. It is brand new in the box with nothing wrong with it. Same muffler I have on my truck now.

I have a dumb question. I currently have true duals with Flowmaster 40's and no X pipe. The Flowmasters are too loud for my taste so I was thinking about going to a single Magnaflow with a side exit.

Can you do an X pipe and then go to single muffler w/ 2 inlets and one exit or is does the single muffler act as an X pipe?

My '03 1500 HD gets 11 MPG and is a complete DOG off the line. TIA.
