I put 285s on the GMC

Lookin' good Joe. Any rub up front? Do you have your bars cranked or is that the stock height?

 

Is that a bad reflection, or didn't you get all the "blue stuff" off the sidewalls?

No rubbing & stock height. I took those pics Saturday morning, before I gave the truck a bath, blue marks are gone now

    They look super!  Any idea if the ABS would need to be re-calibrated to suite the new tire size?  Just a thought.  I think I would like to order the same size but heard about the ABS thing and was just curious.

Haaaa, had to wait 60K miles for the Firestones to about give in. ;)

fgrimm - About the ABS thing, I'm not sure about needind to have it calibrated. I have buddies who lost their ABS unit on stock tires. Seems like a very common problem on these trucks unfortunatly

  Thanks for the reply.  I work at the US Embassy in Honduras and dont really have anyone down here to ask.  Just wanted to look in to the ABS thing before I order them via the military APO.  They will mail them to me one at a time.

Well, here in Detroit I called quite a few shops. I received quotes as high as $780 for four tires out the door  :0

I paid $679 OTD. I could have drove to Windsor, Ontario and saved about $40 after the exchange, but it is a bit of a hassle to cross the border nowdays.

 

Probably a lot of dough, but I really like the tires

opps the 623 was for the 4 tires only.  Total price for balance tires disposal fee of old tires was $723

 

Then i bought a spare so final total 5 tires mounted and balanced was $881

 

$155.99 a tire
