What should I ask for?

My wife called GM on the 800 # and opened a case file in regard to her '03 3/4 ton Burban. It has been in for warranty work more than 21 times since 10/02/03 when we took delivery, and they are unable to fix the heated seat problem. My extended warranty expires in less than 10k miles. My question is this, they asked my wife how they could "compensate" her for our inconvenience, what do I ask for? Should I see what they offer and just say it isn't enough 3-4 times? I really am disappointed, I waited a long time to be able to buy the "perfect" (expensive) vehicle for my wife, now she hates it. This is a real bummer. Ideas? :)

21 times... for the same thing?

No, not for the same thing. But, 7 times for the radio, and 7 times for the heated seats, which they still can't fix. The other stuff has been mostly electrical, the intermediate shaft has been replaced twice though.

As for the lemon law, it's almost 3 years old, how does that work, how do I do it?

Ask around. I have a few lawyer friends who referred my parents to "the best in town". Or you can check the yellow pages too. Make sure they are a "Lemon Law" attorney. They will know the ins and outs of Lemon laws. It may be different in your state than here in Wisconsin. GM is a lot more lax on taking back lemons. Chrysler on the other hand are a bunch of a$$es and will fight even when they know they are in the wrong. Just make sure you kept up on all your documentation and perhaps even make a timeline with details on every time you have been in there. We turned our truck back in after a year. I'm not sure how 3 years would work. If its still under warranty I would think it wouldn't me an issue, but a Lemon Law lawyer should let you know. Hope this helps...if even a little.

Thanks, I have a buddy who is a non lemon lawyer, he said he'd put us in touch with a lemon law guy.

I wish we didn't have to do this.

Well you dont "have to", but the drawback is continually taking it back in to get repairs. This way, you can send it back, take the money and put it towards a new. or used one. Just one thing to remember, it may take a few weeks, or it may take a few months to send it back, if you choose to go that route. And documentation is key. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

What a state are you in? I lemon lawed a 2004 F150 and can help guide you through the process.

1. Get all documentation together. Have specifics of time and date adn how many days the truck has been in the shop

2. Highlight how many times one item has been fixed and that some items a still aren't fixed.

3. Once you have this, call GM and request information for the buy-back or lemon law paperwork. They will have this and will mail it to you.

4. Open a case with your states attorney general. YOu should be able to find the auto consumer complaints division phone number on the internet.

Send me a message if you have any questions. bottom line, get rid of the vehicle. In ohio, you have what it takes to make them buy it back. You'll get your loan paid off, refund of all payments made, and if you have reciepts, all after market accessories refunded as well.

what kind of problems are you having with the seats? I have an '03 Silverado 4x4Quadrasteer LT and have had it in the shop multiple b/c the driver heated seat comes on and cycles through the levels on it's own. The problem occurs when it rains and so far only during the summer months.

All I can say is this: be happy that your heated seat did not roast your behind like they did in case of some unfortunate Volkswagen owners. I read several complaints where the seat heaters went beserk and burned through the seat cover and through the pants of the unfortunate seat occupant.

You know how I solved this problem on my truck? I do not have heated seats! I do not think I need them in central Florida, do you? Now, air conditioned seats I could appreciate.

That would be tasty! On the other hand, high speed whine would not be.
