Code P0442

My 2001 Silverado, 5.3, 40,000 miles, has the check engine light on. The man at the auto parts place uses a " hand-held " code reader and says it's a Code P0442. Tells me it could be the gas cap or a small vac. leak. When the light came on the other day I replaced the locking gas cap with the original cap and checked the air-cleaner housing and hoses. If I have eliminated the problem, then how do I get the CEL to disappear? Thanks.

It should clear itself after a few engine cycles. I bought a code reader that reads/clears the codes, money well spent!
