Stained driveway

I discovered I had a K&N replacement filter for my OEM filter, the rectangular kind. So I thought what the hell I'll clean it, so I bought the cleaning kit. I wasnt thinking and after spraying the filter cleaning stuff I hosed it off on my driveway which is black top. Well now I have a stain on my drive way which is a darker tint than the black top. Ive tryed this Purple power insutrial strenght cleaner and degreaser, I sprayed and brushed it in with a broom. It worked a little and the stain (which is a good 1/3 of my driveway) blends in more, but its still pretty visable. I tryed spraying the filter cleaning stuff on the driveway, didnt work out, this purple power stuff worked ok, i might just have to do it a few times. Any ideas?

Might be a good time to seal the driveway and protect the blacktop for the winter. You might try Palmolive or another premium dishwashing soap--I have had good luck on brick sidewalks with it.

Another cleaner you might want to try is Simple Green. Spray it on and let it soak for a while. I have always had good luck with this stuff. You can find it just about anywhere. Good luck.

Good stuff, my buddy has a pressure washer, Ill look around for the simple green stuff. So far Ive only found grease lightning and purple power. Ive heard about dishwasher soap, havent tryed it yet. I dont see it working but Ive been told to use it before, Ill give it a shot tommorrow. I'd like to get it done before I go to the track Friday.

Muriatic acid.

I'll be honest, that sounds like something they inject into people on death row

just kidding, but is it safe for black-top?

20 Mule Team Borax

Ill look into that. How much was that intake tube? Ive been wanting one but all I can find is Airraid. Tube only that is.

muriatic acid aka swimming pool acid...used to clean the 'human' scum off of the tile and plaster in a swimming pool

True Flow is considered way too pricey for most, but I like the silcone ends and the powder coated METAL tube over all the plastic ones. The other plus is that the stock airbox is used to keep the hot engine air out of the intake...eAutoworks

Didn't see the part about it being blacktop.

Not sure what it would do to it...But it sure works great on brick, morter, and concrete.

I'd stay away from the Muriatic, it will etch the blacktop. I'm in the pool business and we use it a lot, it's nasty stuff if you're not used to handling it. I agree it might be time to reseal the surface after scrubbing with dish soap. I've done this before on my driveway and it covers the stains.

2-10 gallons of gas and a match!!!  Ill bring the hot dogs!

Sounds good Ill pick up the beer

I just used some grease lightning and hosed it off, see how it does. If it doesnt turn out well Ill do the same thing with a pressure washer, then if that doesnt work I'll try simple green and pressure wash, and then dishwashing soap and pressure wash. If that doesnt work..Im getting 2-10 gallons worth of gas..

looks like Grease lightning did the job. Good stuff, thanks for all the help!

Re-sealing the black-top is the only way to make it all look uniform. You basically sprayed a degreaser on a asphalt based product. You've physically modified it so it will not match no matter what you do unless you re-coat.
