??? about backpressure and 5.3s

OK,

I know these 5.3 vortecs need a certain amount of backpressure or they start to lose low end torque. What I would like to know is, are the catalytic convs enough, or do you need to restrict exchaust flow to one pipe and run one flowmaster muffler. I have a set of duals that came off of a truck I totalled. It had true duals off of a 5.7. I can cut the pipes of the current truck just past the cats, and run duals off of it with a dual inlet and dual outlet 50 series flowmaster.

My dilemma is, if I go from one pipe to two, will I lose backpressure, and thereby, low end power/torque???

I have a magnaflow direct muffler swap on my 5.3L and noticed no low end drop out so i dont know a techincal answer but the seat of the pants dyno says none to positive change, but no negative

Every time i put a high flow muffler on a vortec engine it does lose a little low end torque. I am thinking about putting the stock one back on now . I am only going by the ole butt dyno and cant back anything up with dyno numbers but before the magnaflow and flowmater and flo-pro i have had on it would roast the tires from a dead stop. Now it usually wont so there-for i believe the low end power is reduced.
