door and tailgate handle replacement

Anybody have detailed instructions on how to R & R the door handles and tailgate handle on a 20005 Sierra? I would hazaard to guess you have to remove th einterior door trim panel and also could use instructions on how to do this. I am wanting to replace them with the painted units.

I would guess that the replacement and removal for the panels is pretty similar to mine on my 2001. I have some pics in the pinting section of my webshots gallery. If I remember correctly, there are 2 or 3 nuts that need to be removed. The trickiest one is behind a round rubber "cap" on the edge of the door. Yes, the interior panel needs to be removed, and you will have to pull back the plastic on the interior of the door. I think the nuts are 10mm, but I could be wrong, might want to check a Haynes, Chilton, or Service manual if you have one. The nut behind the rubber cap you will need a socket that is part socket and part universal joint. The tailgate handle is pretty much straight forward, just be careful removing the trim piece around the handle. I snapped off 3 of the 4 snap clips that hold the thing to the tailgate. Did mine two weeks ago easy like Kania said. Pull inner door panel off, pop off black cap in door jam to access side nut. There's two more holding it on the door from the inside. All are 10mm the one nut is up under the window so squeeze your hand up under with a ratchet to get this one off. I have a crew and did all five (rear) in about an hour.
