Fuel Gauge Problems

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am having fuel gauge problems with my '03 2500HD with the 6.0. Recently my gas gauge needle was 180 degrees off from where it is supposed to be. I found that I could temporarily cure the problem by disconnecting the battery for about 20 seconds and reconnecting it. After about a half a day of driving it around town, shutting off and re-starting, it goes back to reading incorrectly. All of my other gauges work fine. The computer still reads the correct fuel range in miles left on a tank of gas but the gauge reading is still 180 off. Any ideas? I would like to fix this myself without having to send the instrument cluster off for a rebuild, if possible. If I do have to send it off, can I still operate the truck with out the cluster?? Any help would be appreciated!
