2008 Chevy Malibu

Haven't seen this posted yet, so here goes. 2008 Chevy Malibu. I personally think the car looks awesome, and if I was in the market for a family car, this would be my first test drive. Interior looks great, the new motors will have good power, and the exterior is leaps and bounds over the boxy funny lookin 07 model.

 

The Camry will probably remain #1 (for now), but I can see this baby cutting into it's sales

Sorry man, those cars are long gone. GM has to play "catch up" with Toyota and Nissan in the car segment, so that means the future GM cars will have more of a "foreign" look to them, BUT I think this is GM's best attempt to date. (Aside from the ultra bad ass Camaro! )

Exterior looks just like a Camry with a bowtie.

 

Interior looks nice and the two swooping curves harken back to older Corvette days.

 

Looks nice. It the fit and finish as well as the quality of ride is there, they should do well.

This looks like a good move for Chevrolet. I think they lost alot of the market for family sedans because of the Impala wasn't perfect for everyone and the 1997-2003 Malibu's are pretty ugly and low end.

 

What do you guys think?

i tihnk the 00-05 impalas (generation before current ones) were beautiful. my mother has one, the LS with the 3.8, and that SOB hauls, even with full seats (5 people) cause it has a pretty decent amount of torque. it is remarkably stylish, and has HUGE trunk space. the new ones, eh, so so

 

im not a big fan of this malibu though, id have to upgrade to the impala if i was dropping $$$

Ive heard some will still be retro styled like the upcoming Impala. Here is what somebody pointed out on a different GM website

rename the lumina, IMPALA, captiva,NOMAD, Epica can be a malibu or even a Nova . ( Insert new camaro, corvette and silverado!

I own a 2002 Impala (at least until Saturday) and while the exterior looks are very nice and the interior looks are nice too, the leather seats are a joke. Slightly upgraded vinyl at best. The cheap "plasticy" look inside does not age very well. I see gaps and seams more and more as time goes on. It has a noisy ride (road noise), a failing interior and overall is not up to par for the price I paid. Resale is also in the toilet.

 

Guys, I have driven a lot of cars in the past month. The new Camry and the new Accord are GREAT cars. The fit and finish is excellent, the ride is very precise and quiet. The new Impala just does not compete and our 2002 model is does not even qualify as a bench warmer compared to the starting studs provided via Camry and Accord.

 

Also driven some SUV's as well. Midsize to be exact. The Trailblazer and Envoy just don't keep pace with the Honda Pilot. Mostly fit and finish and ride quality. I feel that Honda has them beat.

 

As for our choice, Saturday we are picking up a Acura Certified MDX. I know Acura (Honda's luxury line) is not in the same catagory as a Trailblazer, but to keep in our budget we opted for a used MDX.

 

I am a GM guy thru and thru, have been all my life, but when you ignore name plates and go drive these vehicles for days on end, one right after the other, you start to see the difference and understand why Toyota and Honda sell the crap out of these vehicles. This is why I am concerned over the long haul with Toyota's full sized trucks. Eventually, they will hurt the Big 3's market share and with them needing that segment to recover, it worries me.

Not Bad...I saw this in the current Motor Trend and thought it was one of the better looking attempts from chevy. You also have to keep in mind that its marketed as a practical family sedan, not a sports car or roadster, so you can expect a conservative looking vehicle.

No doubt, those cars are hot. I would buy one in a heartbeat!

I don't get why they wouldn't offer them here either.

It seems the more I talk around a lot of individuals are looking for good fit and finish all around, especially inside the vehicle.
