Ineffective ads

Watching the playoffs yesterday. GM shows the same Sierra commercial about 10 times. I got nothing out of it. No features to make me want to go to a dealer. All they say is they got a good warranty and show the truck bouncing along a road, it looked like the bed was held on with bungee cords. I guess they dont have anything technically improved to talk about. Just saying "we are proffesional grade" aint gonna cut it.

I agree... having seen the new truck upclose, I think I will keep my truck for awhile. If it had the six speed transmission it would help sales alot.

Right. If you are gonna bring out something "new", it has to have enhanced technology not just body panels and another new grille.

Who cares about ford? not me. All I was saying is they spend millions on these commercials, and they are stupid because they tell you nothing. I laugh when the online stuff from GM calls the trucks "all new". What is new besides the obvious body/trim?

it's not ford you guys should be worrying about, it's Toyota.

those ARE effective ads. i was watching yesterday and said to myself, "holy s**t, that things got 400ft lbs? i could to a big trailer with that."

i really like the new trucks, but they need a 6sp for sure before i buy one. they are improved though. WAY nicer inside than my 01, better fuel economy, better chassis, and i'm sure other details i don't remember.

The GMT 900 is a completely new truck from the ground up. The only thing carryover is the 4L65E trans.

the motors are carryover are they not? yeah the ECU can now shut down some cylinders, but the motors themselves are mostly unchanged right?

Toyota ads are informative; each one tells about something new on the Tundra. And you wonder why one company makes money and other's don't.

Besides the exterior, what is actually new. I know the 5.8 can switch to 4 cyl, but han't dodge had that for a couple of years now? The chassis is a little wider, would you notice that if you werent told in advance? I was looking for more impressive marketing. Like someone else mentioned, the toyota ad was impressive with the torque spec and 6 speed. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying GM dosent have anything to offer, but maybe they should have put off this redesign til they had all the ducks in a row.

The GMT800 had the LS1 engine and the GMT900 has the LS2 big upgrade internally including oiling system for the displacement on demand.

The GMT-800 series has the LS series motors in the aspect that the motors are from that engine series design, but the only truck that I know of that have had the actual LS2 motor was the trailblazer SS and the SSR. Other than that I don't think any of the GMT-800 or GMT-900 trucks ever had a LS1 or LS2 in them.

The Vortec engines in our trucks use the same architecture as the LS1. The displacement is different. Also LS1 is aluminum block and heads.

When GM discontinued the LS1 series they upgraded all the new products with the LS2 since Active fuel management wasnt available on the LS1 design.
