The parking brake on my 2003 Envoy SLT needs adjusting/tightening . How is this done, is this something that I can easily do myself?

Pull both rear disc off and you will find an adjusting wheel. Turn the wheel for the desired e-brake pressure. Just make sure the pads are not dragging on the disc.

If yours is similar to the fullsize trucks, the parking brake is a shoe which contacts the inside of the rear rotors. When you pull the rear rotors, you'll see a small star wheel that adjusts the shoe lining, either expanding it or contracting it. Adjust the linings until the rotor drags, then back off the adjuster wheel slightly so the rotors turns free. When I did my first brake job at 3 yrs and 55k miles, the parking brake shoes were cracked and in bad shape. The lining material is pretty thin so don't be surpised if they need replaced.
