2007 gmt900 silverado ltz

I am buying a 2007 silverado ltz crew cab 4x4. i am thinking of taking out the factory stereo and replacing it with an alpine iva w200, has anyone done this and have pics? any problems with it? or just in general i am looking for ideas on what to do, and what size are the rear door speakeers?

 

what i am planning

 

alpine iva w200 dvd cd player with blackbird docking station

jl audio vr 650 from door speakers

jl audio rear door speakers

alpine mrv 100m sub amp

alpine f401 amp

either a jl audio stealth box or one 10 inch pioneer sub in a box under rear seat

Peice of advice, since you are going with so much JL Audio speakers go with a JL Audio amp. Or you can save money and buy a TMA (Total Mobile Audio) amp which is made by JL Audio. They are a JL Audio amp with a TMA name on it and are hella cheaper. a 350/1 sub amp is only $150, while a JL amp is like $350. Just thought I would mention that.

 

Cause I have on order two JL Audio 10" W3v3 with a TMA 500/1 amp. And by switching to the TMA amp I saved myself about $200 dollars.

 

And by the way, very good choice on speakers. JL Audio is a very high quality company. Very clear, very well made. I myself would not buy a Alpine headunit, not because of the quality, is more of the ease of use. Pioneer is alot easier to change sub settings and all the little details. But Alpines are for the people who know what they are doing when they start hitting buttons. I am not saying you don't know what you are doing, I am just saying from experience.

 

Good luck with the system, I am sure that no matter what you go with, it will sound phenomenal.

cool thanks, well i already have the amps, in the truck i have now, and the front door speakers as well,so i am just going to take them out and install them in the new one, i also have the alpine iva d300, but am hoping to sell that on ebay. what size are the rear door speakers in the new style silverados?

I am not all too positive about the speakers. I can find out for you, but it won't be until tomorrow afternoon before I can find out. Just let me know and I can get the information for you.

well , the alpine iva d300 i have is cool, once i have the setting for sub and stuff, i just leave it, i wish somebody would make a simple unit again with bass and treble knobs, you know what i mean?

What do you people think? Sound ok? I dont need mind boggling gangsta boom boom subs, just something that sounds good when its at a higher volume? Should be better than the stock Bose system or no?????

I have a new 07 but I haven't started taking it apart yet. I have the AVIC-Z2 but I can't find instructions on removing the factory stereos on the new models. I'll post up some picks when I get it done.

Removing the factory radio is real easy. The trim simply snaps off. Just start at the upper right corner and carefully pull out, then work your way around.

 

There are four screws that secure the radio. Remove using a 7mm hex socket. The heater controls may also have to be removed (on the Sierra this is the case). There are two screws that secure the heater controls.

 

Once the screws are removed, simply pull the head unit out and disconnect the plug(s) and antenna lead from the back.

If you want a place to run your power cable into the cab you can try looking for a grommet on the drivers side under the carpet. On my buddy's 04 that is where we ran it. It was kind of Bi**H to find a pre existing grommet to get the cable through on the firewall that also existed in the engine bay. So we just ran it on the drivers side down until we could pull the rest then just put it through the existing grommet under the carpet on the drivers side. It actually worked out quite well IMO. If you need pix let me know and I can try to go and get some.

im going through the boot that all the wires go through the fire wall at. its behind the fuse block onder the drivers side dash.
