You're the one looking at my exposed rear end... :dunno:

Whoever started this thread is awesome! :D

I still think this is my favorite upgrade or mod I've done to my truck. I want to thank you again for starting this thread. I just can't stop playing with my DIC. :dunno: It has become one of my favorite passtimes. Daddy, You Da Man.

I just wanted to let everyone know that adding the Driver Information Center (DIC) to your 2007 SLE is a snap.

I ordered the part from gmpartsdirect.com. The install took 5 minutes.

Directions (I would have taken photos but it's really unnecessary as this is so simple.)

*******************************************************************************

1. Turn the truck off.

2. Pull the old section of dash (on the left of the wheel) off by hand.

3. Remove the light controls (simple plastic clips).

4. Remove the extra cable clipped into the piece of dash (it's already there just not being used...YET!

5. Install the light controls into the new piece of dash (yes it comes with the new piece of dash, new vent and the switch)

6. Plug the previously non used wire into the new switch.

7. Put the new dash plate back into place by hand.

8. Turn on the truck! You're done!

This mod gives you access to fuel mileage, range, gallons used, V8/V4 mode notification, tire pressures, tire sensor learning, key fob learning, chime volume, entry and exit lighting schemes, lock and unlock schemes (including automatic lock/unlock), unit and language choices, engine hours and probably more that I have forgotten already.

The beauty of all of this is the cost - $100.22 shipped.

Enjoy.

If you have questions, let me know!

Daddy. :dunno:

does this application work on previous generation GM's or just the 07/08's?

GMT900'S only. The DIC can be added to the GMT800's but it's a lot more difficult and requires multiple parts and reprogramming. Use the search feature and you'll find past threads covering it.

Awesome info,I however jumped the gun after reading 4 pages and ordered from gmparts direct. I ordered the entire assembly, then continued ready and saw you can get it half price by ordering seperatly. Well then after reading you can't cancell ordereds from them, im debating on wheither to just do a stop payment on the c/c used. Not to mention, most you guys waited 2 weeks or more for parts from them. I should've just keep reading the thread....dohShould've just ordered through GMpartshouse like ive done with my vette in the past, kind of crappy you cant edit/cancell orders.

THIS IS THE EMAIL THAT I GOT FROM gmpartsdirect.com Part Number 15947841: Special Ordered Part Number 25783286: Back Ordered (Part is on national backorder with GM, GM does not currently have an ETA for the part to be released. Please email us with your order number and this part number, if you wish to wait or wish to remove the part from your order. ) Please go to https://secure.gmpartsdirect.com/secure/log...ion=orderstatus and login with your e-mail address and password. In the top right hand corner click on the order history button, then click the order you want to view. At this point you will be able to click on the tracking number to view your order's progress to you. Please note it normally takes 12-24 hours after this email was sent in order for UPS, FedEx, or USPS to update your tracking number into their system. If the tracking number shows invalid please wait 12-24 hours and check your tracking number again. If after this amount of time it still shows invalid please email customer service at [email protected]

i ordered this sunday, sent them 2 emails since...Have not got a reply on either one, not even a read reciept.

I've lost all interest to do any business with these people. I called my C/C company tonight to dispute the charge, but they were closed already.

It's only been 2 days. They'll send you a canceled email just like everyone else if they can't get the part. Their service may not be the best but their prices generally are. Cut 'em some slack, they'll get back to you.

Being that i work in a sales environment, timely response is something I see important in serving customers.

When you have a company that its main customer service email isnt even read on a daily basis, not to mention not even having a phone number listed it doesn't speak much about that company. I'd rather spend a few extra dollars, and have decent service.

Oh well now i know.

    • Around 2008 if memory serves they took sulfur out. That was when diesel went up.
    • Question for you Grumpy, why is diesel so much more than gasoline? Seems to me that it may be slightly a little less refined than gas and it doesn't have 10% alcohol which presumably lowers the price of gas

    • How many years have I pointed out every point in that link to the folks here and been avalanched with criticisms and outright hostilities at times? I ran counter to even the great CUSTOMBOSS and Lake Speed Jr and the half dozen experts on YouTube and in the final.....GM, Physics (Stribeck) backs that Grumpy old Bear.    Honestly, I never said a thing engineering hadn't studied silly and laid in concrete during WWII. But I'm old, the information is old and yet, the Laws of Physics are eternal.    Okay there is one exception. I vehemently disagree with their use of the word 'tolerances' when what it meant is "clearance".   The clearance is the distance between two objects. The tolerance is the degree of acceptable variation permitted in that clearance. I.E., piston to bore clearance is 0.004" with a tolerance of +/- .0002" so the clearance is in specification if it lies between 0.0038" and 0.0042". Cutting that 'tolerance in half has ZERO impact on lubrication requirements. Makes for more difficulty in manufacturing.  But a tighter clearance 'MAY'. Depends on finish. Anyway....   It's one of those statements made by people to make themselves look smarter than they are to convince people who are as un-enlighten as they seem to manipulate their behaviors. But hey, the blind leading the blind puts them both in the pit.
    • Out and about yesterday on a long Saturday drive I passed a lot of Shell stations. My preferred, so I pay attention. Lot's of small town Illinois so not six stations in three blocks like the city.    Everyone of them over a radius of say 100 miles had regular at $4.19 but one which was the one closest to home at $4.15. However Premium pricing varied greatly between 85 cents over regular to $1.50 over. I'm not counting the price of the station with the lowest regular so the reference is the same for the remainder and all within the same brand. However the spread discrepancy holds across all brands.     @txab, any thoughts on that?
